Key Highlights:
- Ethereum reclaims $2K but faces strong resistance near $2,400
- Leverage-driven price swings continue to fuel ETH volatility
- On-chain data signals accumulation as traders anticipate a breakout
Ethereum (ETH) price displayed significant volatility. The token rebounded from recent market declines and climbed above the $2,000 threshold.
The surge has inspired optimism, but a critical test lies at $2,400. This resistance level will determine if Ethereum continues to rise or faces a decline.
ETH Price Volatility and Leverage-Driven Moves
ETH price showed strong activity as open interest and leverage influenced its recent movements. Per CryptoQuant analysis of multiple sharp market fluctuations, the token movements show clear correlations to open interest changes.
This indicated that leveraged positions have amplified price fluctuations. They have triggered swift movements in both upward and downward directions.
Meanwhile, Ethereum has maintained a price range between $1,750 and $2,200 this month. On the other hand, ETH tried multiple times to sustain an upward trend.

However, ETH’s price momentum has experienced regular interruptions due to leverage-driven forced sales. This created temporary market declines.
Traders closely monitor ETH’s ability to maintain its position above $2,000. At the same time, they are assessing the factors needed to break through the $2,400 level.
Global In/Out of the Money: What It Means for Ethereum
According to on-chain data from IntoTheBlock, holders who bought Ethereum are losing money with a percentage of 65.08%. At the same time, those who gained profits totalled 31.56% of the market.
This highlighted that the token has recovered. However, its price movement shows many investors are either unprofitable or just breaking even with their positions.

The upcoming significant resistance area ranges between $2,231 and $2,593. It also contains 12.39 million addresses with more than 65.4 million ETH.
If ETH price breaks past this resistance zone, it will create a bullish trend. This is because investors will feel more confident about the market.
If the resistance level is not breached, it could trigger another wave of market selling. Short-term traders may opt to secure profits, adding to the downward pressure.
A true bullish reversal requires $2,400 to become a strong, sustained support level. Once achieved, Ethereum can aim upward toward $2,600 and beyond.
Ethereum Is Oversol: A Breakout Could Be Imminent
Moreover, the current Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratio shows Ethereum is in a position of historical overselling. The MVRV ratio has previously reached similar levels. This led to robust accumulation phases that resulted in substantial price increases.

Technical analyst CryptoCove’s descending wedge pattern suggests that the token may have hit its bottom. This indication points to a potential upward movement shortly.
Moreover, an ETH price breakout from this pattern would become more likely after it surpasses the $2,580 resistance level.

Furthermore, Ethereum surpassing the $2,000 mark shows promise. Yet, the upcoming market challenges will determine its true fate.
A price rise above $2,400 would demonstrate market strength, leading to a potential price range between $2,600 and $2,800. However, ETH price might return to lower levels before attempting another breakout.
