XRP price Eyes $10 as CME XRP futures Launch trigger Institutional FOMO

Key Insights:

  • XRP breaks wedge, eyes key resistances at $2.75+.
  • Price targets: $5, $8, $10 — $20 possible by Q4 this year.
  • CME Set to Launch XRP Futures on May 19—Major Milestone.

XRP price is gaining momentum after breaking out of a key technical pattern and ahead of a major market event. On May 19, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) will launch XRP futures — a move that could attract strong institutional interest. The news aligns with bullish chart patterns and wave projections, suggesting higher price levels ahead.

XRP Price Breaks Out of Falling Wedge Pattern

Recent price action shows XRP breaking out of a falling wedge pattern on the 1-hour chart. Falling wedges are generally considered bullish patterns and often lead to upward continuation when confirmed by volume.

After the breakout, XRP pushed toward the $2.40 level, with immediate resistance expected at $2.425 and $2.55. If price can surpass these zones, the next resistance is around $2.75. A break above $2.75 may open the door to a larger move, with bulls targeting higher levels.

The price currently holds above $2.30, which is now acting as a short-term support zone. Another support band sits between $2.20 and $2.25. As long as these levels hold, traders expect further bullish pressure.

Wave Structure Projects $6.50 to $9.50 Target Range

According to market analyst @MMatters22596, XRP appears to be moving into Wave III of an Elliott Wave cycle. Elliott Wave Theory suggests that Wave III is typically the strongest phase in a five-wave pattern, often generating large price increases.

The chart shared by the analyst indicates that Wave I and Wave II have already been completed. Wave II retraced close to the 0.618 Fibonacci level, which is typical for corrections within this structure. The next wave projection points to a minimum target of $6.50, with a possible extension as high as $9.50 if momentum continues to build.

The technical structure shows a breakout from a consolidation zone, reinforcing the wave count. The base formed near $0.90 to $1.00 has held firm and now serves as a foundation for the potential upside.

CME Set to Launch XRP Futures on May 19

CME stated that XRP futures will be available from May 19 on. It will offer XRP futures to its customers for the first time, because they are the leading derivatives exchange.

This could drive further adoption, especially as CME has already added Cardano (ADA) and Natural Gas (NGS) futures under CFTC oversight. Previously, Bitnomial (XBT Provider) launched the first CFTC-compliant XRP futures in the United States, which Coinbase later absorbed into its product offering.

XRP Price Targets Extend to $10 and Beyond

Market analyst Crypto Fergani forecasts XRP could rally beyond current levels. If momentum holds, projections suggest targets of $5, $8, and $10 in the medium term — with $20 possible by Q4 2025.

A breakout above $2.75 and $3.00 would validate these forecasts, signaling continued strength. Volume confirmation remains critical to sustaining the trend.

Still, short-term volatility is likely. One forecast sees XRP declining by 22.88% to around $1.87 by June 16, indicating a potential pullback. Technical indicators currently read neutral, while the Fear & Greed Index sits at 74, suggesting the market is in a greedy phase.

Despite the bullish macro outlook, XRP has only recorded gains on 13 out of the past 30 days (43%), reflecting an uneven, moderately active market.
