Binance Coin Price Holds $620 as Hedge Fund Plans $100M Treasury Bet

Key Insights:

  • BNB price retests $620 as the chart shows upside targets at $678 and $720.
  • Hedge fund execs plan $100M raise to adopt BNB as public treasury asset.
  • Derivatives funding is, however, negative, paving the way to a possible squeeze.

BNB price has pulled back to $625, sliding 10% from its recent high of $696. This correction has now reached the critical decision area at 620, which has a history of accumulation and technical confluence. While price consolidates, institutional interest in BNB is expanding. Plans of acquiring a company using a $100 million spectrum, driven by a hedge fund using a Nasdaq shell entity, have rekindled bullish speculation.

Binance Coin Price at Make-or-Break $620 Level

BNB price is trading just above $620, a level that served as both resistance in March and support in May. The recent chart by Kapoor described a long trade that can be done around the $620 entry with a stop-loss headed under $600 and profit targets set to be met at $678 and $720.

More so, the TP1 of $678 coincides with the high of May 27 and a potential 9.3% profit based on the current price. TP2 is set at $720 and is equal to the high of February 2025 and gives a 16.1% projected bounce. Both levels are credible if Binance coin price defends the $620 zone and reclaims the short-term EMA cluster currently acting as resistance.

The chart exhibited a clean R: R structure, and the price was in the buy zone. The daily RSI and other momentum indicators are neutral, which would indicate the possibility of a continuation should it sustain this level. Any decline below $600, though, should nullify the bullish set-up and permit $570 to be the next point of support.

$100M Bid Aims to Position Binance Coin Price as a Treasury Asset

Notably, a Bloomberg report confirmed that a team of hedge fund executives is in advanced discussions to raise $100 million through a publicly traded entity to purchase BNB. The initiative follows the treasury model pioneered by MicroStrategy with Bitcoin, but this time focused on Binance’s native token.

Kapoor Kshitiz noted that the vehicle, set to be renamed “Build & Build Corp”, would be the first public company to hold BNB as a core reserve asset. He noted that this move would facilitate a major transition to altcoin acceptance in corporate balance sheets.

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) clarified he was not directly involved but supported the effort, stating, “We are extremely supportive.”

Unlike Bitcoin, which benefited from U.S. regulatory clarity and institutional custodianship, BNB’s integration into a treasury model faces regulatory unknowns. Nonetheless, the initiative could represent a precedent of organized corporate altcoin acquisition, particularly should the SEC approve the listing process.

Funding Rate Still Negative as Open Interest Slides

However, according to Coinglass data, sentiment remains cautious. BNB’s OI-weighted funding rate is negative across 8-hour and 24-hour windows, signaling slight pressure from short-biased traders. Meanwhile, open interest declined 2.08% to 709.46 million, reflecting lesser leverage.

Long/short account ratios are nearly neutral on Binance (1.4096) and OKX (1.36), confirming that neither side holds control. The astonishing decrease in the options volume, though by 46.31% to $4.04M, however, implies that the hedging activity has calmed down.  Even though the options open interest improved by 8.12%, it implied that there is selective placement against any future volatility.

The low rate of funding remaining significantly below zero makes a short squeeze more likely should spot demand pick up. Traders are monitoring whether BNB price can flip intraday resistance near $642 and reclaim the $650–$660 band, which would trigger derivative liquidations on overleveraged short positions.

Public Equity Model Mirrors MicroStrategy’s BTC Strategy

The hedge fund’s proposal to acquire BNB using a publicly traded company closely mirrored MicroStrategy’s Bitcoin strategy. The difference lay in the regulatory risk: Bitcoin enjoyed institutional acceptance, while BNB remained under regulatory scrutiny due to its ties to a centralized exchange.

Still, the mechanism was similar. Executives planned to raise equity via Nasdaq and use the proceeds to purchase BNB, adding it to the corporate balance sheet. If successful, it would mark the first public treasury strategy for an altcoin in the United States.

Should BNB hold current levels and gain further institutional traction, the move might encourage other companies to diversify beyond Bitcoin. The trend could broaden treasury adoption to include mature altcoins like BNB.
