Circle’s USDC Stablecoin Makes Way to Jack Ma’s Ant International

Key Insights:

  • The proposal for USDC integration on Ant International comes amid growing momentum around the GENIUS Stablecoin Act.
  • Circle also teamed up with crypto exchange OKX to enable direct 1:1 US dollar-to-USDC conversions for over 60 million users.
  • Ant International plans to apply for a stablecoin license under Hong Kong’s new Stablecoin Ordinance, set to take effect August 1.

Circle Internet Group (NASDAQ: CRCL), the issuer of the USDC stablecoin is working with Jack Ma’s Ant International Group, for the integration of the USDC stablecoin on its blockchain platform. This development comes soon as USDC becomes compliant with the US regulatory standards, along with a star-studded entry to Wall Street and a blockbuster IPO.

With Circle expanding its footprint through key collaborations, analysts believe that it can quickly eat into the market share of Tether.

Circle’s USDC to Integrate With Ant International Blockchain

Sources familiar with the matter said that Jack Ma’s Ant Group would be working with Circle, and would integrate the USDC stablecoin into its fintech blockchain platform. This will be subject to an absolute regulatory clearance from US authorities as crypto community waits on the sidelines for the passing of the GENIUS Stablecoin Act, likely to happen during the Crypto Week starting July 14.

Although the exact timeline for Ant’s blockchain to integrate USDC stablecoin remains unclear, the move signals growing institutional interest in regulated stablecoins for cross-border payments, per a Bloomberg report.

With the GENIUS Stablecoin Act proceeding for the House vote, Circle has emerged as a key beneficiary of the renewed optimism, being among the few publicly listed firms to issue its own stablecoin.

Besides, Circle is also upgrading its infrastructure to cater to industry needs. Back in April this year, the stablecoin firm launched a dedicated payments network allowing financial institutions to settle cross-border transactions using USDC. Thus, it positions itself as a bridge between traditional finance and digital assets.

Stablecoin Firm Circle Announces Key Partnerships, CRCL Stock on Radar

To expand its market footprint, USDC stablecoin issuer Circle has announced key collaborations over the last month. In the recent development, Circle Internet Group partnered with leading crypto exchange OKX to improve global accessibility and usability of the USDC stablecoin.

As a result, more than 60 million users on OKX will benefit from enhanced liquidity and a smoother trading experience with USDC. Moreover, as part of the partnership, OKX has introduced direct 1:1 conversions between U.S. dollars and USDC across its trading platform.

This feature allows users to seamlessly access USDC within OKX’s trading ecosystem. The conversion process is designed to be transparent and trust-based, offering users a reliable on-ramp for integrating digital dollars into their trading and settlement activities.

On the other hand, the CRCL stock is facing some selling pressure and moving sideways after hitting the highs of $264 in June. As of Wednesday’s closing, CRCL is trading at $200, with its market slipping under $45 billion.

Despite this drop, the stock is still trading at more than 500% gains from its IPO price of $31. However, market analysts still share concerns on Circle valuations, as the stablecoin firm has a price-to-earnings ratio of 148, much above the technology sector median of 24.

Ant International Seeks Stablecoin License from Hong Kong Regulator

In another development, Ant International is preparing to apply for a stablecoin license in Hong Kong, according to sources familiar with the matter. The move comes as the city’s new stablecoin regulatory framework, passed under the Stablecoin Ordinance, goes into full effect on August 1.

The legislation, approved on May 21, marks Hong Kong’s first formal licensing regime for fiat-backed stablecoins. Under the new rules, stablecoin issuers must secure approval from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), with noncompliance subject to penalties of up to HK$5 million (~$640,000).

Ant’s licensing plan signals growing confidence among traditional fintech firms in the evolving global regulatory environment for stablecoins, which are increasingly being used for cross-border payments and digital asset settlements.
