Ethereum crypto, the leading market altcoin, is set for a major price breakout ahead. Crypto analyst Jelle recently indicated that Ethereum price has seen a fakeout from the falling wedge pattern.
Meanwhile, ETH is gaining increasing attention among institutional players, including the U.S. government.
The Ethereum Price Falling Wedge Pattern
Crypto analyst Jelle noted that the Ethereum price is inches away from a major breakout based on the fakeout from the falling wedge.
A falling wedge is a bullish chart pattern that forms as an asset’s price trends downward with declining momentum. It is characterized by converging lower highs and lower lows, forming a cone-like shape.
Jelle noted that the narrowing of the range suggests that ETH selling pressure is weakening.
Meanwhile, ETH saw a “fakeout” when the price briefly broke out of the pattern. However, it failed to sustain the move, falling back into or below the wedge.
This setup can trap early buyers or shake out weak hands, often preceding a stronger move.
Jelle further noted that the Ethereum price remained stuck below the $4300 resistance area and the 4-hour 50 EMA.

The analyst noted that clearing these levels with conviction could ignite a fast move toward $5,000. However, failure to break out risks a pullback to $4,000 or lower.
As of this writing, the Ethereum price was trading at $4,273, up 1.6% over the past 24 hours. On the monthly charts, the ETH price also increased by 15.2%, with market cap pegged at $515.79 billion.
US Government and Ethereum Crypto Stash
Notably, the U.S. government has expanded its Ethereum holdings. According to data provided by Lookonchain, wallets associated with the U.S. government received 76.56 ETH from the Coinbase exchange.
At the current Ethereum price, the coins were worth $332,000. The U.S. government currently holds a total of 65,232 ETH, valued at $281 million.

While the US government is not an active investor in crypto, it currently holds positions in Bitcoin (BTC), Binance Coin (BNB), USDC, and USDT, among others.
According to data provided by Arkham Intelligence, the U.S. currently holds $23.4 billion worth of crypto. The assets held by the government were confiscated from bad actors over the past several years.
It is important to note that Ethereum is part of the crypto stockpile officially created by the U.S.
In March, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order to establish a Bitcoin reserve, alongside other cryptocurrencies.
Corporate Treasury Boom and ETH Price Outlook
Interestingly, the growing Ethereum crypto accumulation by the U.S. government aligns with a recent trend among corporate holders. It suggests that institutional investors are showing no signs of slowing down on loading up on the asset.
Lookonchain recently disclosed a massive ETH purchase by BitMine and SharpLink, the leading Ethereum corporate treasury holders.
Notably, Bitmine bought 52,475 Ethereum valued at about $220 million. This accumulation pushed Bitmine’s total ETH holdings to $1.575 million, worth $6.6 billion.
Regarding SharpLink, the firm added 143,593 ETH valued at $667 million. As a result, Sharplink now holds 740,760 ETH worth $2.20 billion in its balance sheet.
The increased institutional adoption has helped ignite an optimistic price outlook for ETH. Some analysts have forecasted that ETH could hit between $10,000 and $12,000 in the short term.
Ethereum crypto currently appears set to score its best Q3 of all time. The altcoin has recovered after nearly dipping below the $4,000 level earlier this week.
