Dogecoin News: DOGE Takeover Saga In Spotlight as Affiliations To GOAT Token Debunked

Dogecoin came under fresh attention this week as disputes around the Dogecoin Foundation resurfaced.

This debate occurred as a new memecoin called GOAT drew speculation.

One of Dogecoin’s founders denied involvement with the token, while traders watched DOGE’s price after recent swings.

Foundation Dispute Places Dogecoin In The Headlines

The Dogecoin Foundation takeover issue returned to public debate after a letter from developer Patrick Lodder circulated online.

The letter was shared by community member Mishaboar, who noted that Lodder no longer used X and wanted the statement to be seen.

The letter responded to accusations made by a director of the Dogecoin Foundation.

The Foundation, a private company that works on tools and infrastructure for Dogecoin, has been a point of discussion in the community for years.

Questions about its role and how much influence it should have often come up.

Lodder’s reply was described as detailed, aiming to clarify the situation and defend against the claims.

This reignited debate over how the Foundation operates and whether it represents the wider community or not.

For Dogecoin users and traders, the renewed focus on governance came at a time when the market was already paying close attention to other developments.

This includes the appearance of new tokens linked to the Dogecoin name.

GOAT Token Promotion Met With Founder’s Clarification

GOAT token gained traction on social media after some traders and whale accounts promoted it as a potential breakout memecoin.

A thread that began with predictions of large gains from Hyperliquid Whale James Wynn suggested a connection between GOAT and Dogecoin’s co-founder, Billy Markus.

Markus responded by rejecting any suggestion that he was part of the project.

He explained that neither he nor Jackson Palmer, the other Dogecoin co-founder, had any involvement in GOAT.

He added that an online phrase, “doge4goat,” was from a past campaign to get the Goat Simulator game to accept Dogecoin as payment, not evidence of a link to the token.

Markus went further by saying he did not endorse any particular token. He said people were free to buy or sell what they wanted.

However, he claimed he had often seen his name used by projects to attract investors without his endorsement.

He added that if his name were used, he preferred situations where he also received some benefit instead of being left out.

The discussion also touched on his earlier projects, such as Bellscoin. Markus explained that he created an early proof-of-work version of Bellscoin in 2013.

Since then, many others have made their own versions of Bellscoin on different blockchains, outside of his control.

By stressing his distance from GOAT, Markus aimed to put to rest rumors that the token had ties to Dogecoin’s origins.

Dogecoin Price Levels Under Watch

Alongside the governance questions and GOAT token debate, traders continued to watch the price of DOGE.

Notably, the memecoin traded at about $0.2213, showing a 3.22% rise in 24 hours.

Earlier in the week, DOGE dropped to $0.1899 before recovering to over $0.2200.

Market analyst Kevins pointed out that the monthly Stochastic RSI had crossed upward. Similar movements outside of bear markets had led to rallies in the past.

The reading stood at 13, with $0.2350 marked as the next resistance level to watch.

Observers also noted that broader market moves could play a role in Dogecoin’s next direction.

If Bitcoin continued higher and Ethereum entered price discovery while Bitcoin dominance falls, the setup might favor another move upward for Dogecoin price.

Another factor to note is the appearance of a whale wallet holding more than 52 million DOGE.

Some viewed it as opportunistic buying during the recent dip, while others wondered if it signaled a longer-term strategy.

Either way, large holders can influence market dynamics and are expected to play a role in the Dogecoin price rebound.
