Metaplanet Adds Over 5,000 Bitcoins to Company Treasury
Popular as Japan’s MicroStrategy, Metaplanet added 5419 Bitcoins to its company treasury, thereby taking its total holdings to 25,555 BTC. The latest purchase comes after the company successfully completed $1.4 billion in fundraising last week.
Besides, the company’s latest purchase comes at a BTC price of $116,724, taking its BTC yield to 395.1% in 2025. As of September 2025, the Japanese firm’s total Bitcoin investments stand at $2.71 billion at an average purchase price of $106,065 per coin.

Following its latest purchase, Metaplanet is on track to hit its target of 30,000 BTC by the year-end. Speaking on the development, the company’s Bitcoin strategist Dylan LeClair stated that this is just the first tranche of its purchase. Thus, he hinted at more purchases coming ahead.

LeClair further noted that since launching its Bitcoin strategy, the Japanese firm has accumulated the equivalent of 10.6% of the total daily mined BTC supply. Since its inception, the company has purchased a total of 47.5 BTC.
Will Metaplanet Stock Rally Resume?
Metaplanet stock has faced some volatility during Monday’s trading session on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. After 14% upside last week, the stock is holding firm above 600 JPY, however, the broader crypto market correction has prevented further rally today.
On the other hand, the company’s US subsidiary trading under the MTPLF ticker has been underperforming recently. Despite the strong Bitcoin purchases, the MTPLF share price has been trading around $4.0 in the OTC markets.
Industry giants believe that the stock price remains largely undervalued. Chardan Capital Markets, a New York-based global investment bank, has initiated coverage of Metaplanet stock with a “buy” rating as of September 19.
The firm set a price target of $9.90 (1,455 JPY), citing the company’s expanding Bitcoin holdings as a key driver. Last week, the company also announced the creation of new subsidiaries in Japan and the US.
Bitcoin Price Crash Erodes Market Sentiment
Today’s Bitcoin price crash has triggered a broader crypto market correction, with over $1.7 billion in liquidations overall. Overall, this eroded market sentiment, triggering a crypto sell-off.
However, big market players continue to stay confident of buying the market dips. On Sunday, September 21, MicroStrategy executive chairman Michael Saylor shared the Saylor Bitcoin Tracker chart, fueling speculation of another potential Bitcoin purchase on Monday.
Saylor might be seeing a good opportunity to buy the BTC price dips and announce a major purchase as per the Monday ritual. However, analysts believe this is just the beginning of a greater Bitcoin correction.
Experts predict that BTC could drop further to $106K levels, where investors could see fresh buying opportunities ahead.
