Cardano Price Nears Death Cross as Fundamentals Worsen

The Cardano price has plunged and entered a bear market after dropping by 35% from its highest point this year. ADA token may be on the cusp of more downside as a death cross pattern nears and as its fundamentals deteriorate.

Cardano Price Technical Analysis Points to an Incoming Death Cross

The daily timeframe chart shows that the ADA price has been in a strong bearish trend in the past few months. It has moved from a high of $1.0182 on August 14 a low of $0.6105 during last week’s crypto market crash.

It then attempted to bounce back, reaching a high of $0.7346, where it found substantial resistance. The rebound turned out to be a dead-cat bounce, a temporary rebound that often occurs during a crash.

Cardano price is now nearing the death cross, which happens when the 50-day and 200-day Weighted Moving Averages (WMA) cross each other. This pattern is one of the most common bearish signs in technical analysis.

ADA price has also moved below the key support level at $0.6830, its lowest point on August 2. Additionally, the coin formed a head-and-shoulders pattern, which is another highly bearish sign.

Therefore, the most likely ADA price forecast is bearish, with the initial target being at $0.6100, its lowest point on Friday. A move below that level will point to more downside, potentially to the key support level at $0.5113, its lowest level in July, which is about 25% below the current level.

The bearish Cardano price forecast will become invalid if the token jumps above the 200-weighted moving average (WMA) at $0.7778. Such a move will likely lead to further gains, potentially reaching the psychological level of $1.

Cardano’s Fundamentals Have Deteriorated Despite Charles Hoskinson’s Promises

The ongoing ADA price crash is primarily due to the performance of the crypto market. Bitcoin has fallen below $111,000, while the market capitalization of all tokens has plummeted to $3.7 trillion.

The decline happened as concerns about Donald Trump’s trade war with China accelerated. China has announced several measures targeting the United States in the past few months, including limiting rare earth exports.

Still, Cardano’s fundamentals have continued to deteriorate in the past few months. For example, its ecosystem pales in comparison to its historical peers, such as Solana and BSC Chain. It is also significantly smaller than other recently launched networks, such as Unichain, Plasma, Base, Linea, and Katana.

Cardano has a total value locked (TVL) of over $282 million, a relatively small amount compared to the industry’s assets, which exceed $200 billion. In contrast,

Plasma, which was launched recently, has gained over $8.4 billion by attracting top developers like Aave, Fluid, Euler, Pendle, and Balancer.

Base Blockchain, which was launched in 2023, has attracted over $7 billion in assets.

Additional metrics indicate that Cardano’s network is struggling, despite the promises made by Charles Hoskinson, its founder. For example, the network has just $37 million in stablecoin supply. And Djed, the stablecoin that the team unveiled, has less than $3 million in assets.

Cardano Lagging Institutional Demand

The ADA price has also struggled due to its lagging institutional demand. One notable example is that only one company, Grayscale, has applied for a spot in the ADA ETF.

In contrast, there have been nine XRP and eight Solana ETF approvals. Additionally, meme coins like Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and TRUMP have applied for multiple ETF approvals.

Another sign of its waning influence is that no company has launched an ADA treasury. Ethereum treasury companies now hold over 3.6 million coins, while coins such as Solana, BNB, Avalanche, and Tron have also received these funds.

Summary

In summary, Cardano price has underperformed the broader crypto industry in the past few years. This trend will likely continue in the coming weeks if it forms the death cross pattern and its demand wanes.
