MicroStrategy Adds 168 Bitcoin, Pushing Total To 640,418 BTC

Strategy Inc., formerly known as MicroStrategy, purchased 168 Bitcoin between October 13 and 19, 2025. The total investment amounted to approximately $18.8 million.

Strategy Inc. now holds a total of 640,418 Bitcoin. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor stated the holdings are valued at approximately $71.1 billion.

MicroStrategy Buys More Bitcoin After Strong Year

MicroStrategy has added another 168 Bitcoin to its holdings, a number that is one of its smallest in history. The company spent about $18.8 Million at an average price of $112,051 per Bitcoin.

The purchase took place between October 13 and 19, 2025. Executive Chairman Michael Saylor shared it in a post on X.

With this latest purchase, Strategy now owns 640,418 Bitcoin in total. The company bought these coins for about $47.4 Billion at an average price of $74,010 per Bitcoin.

Based on current prices, the total is worth about $71.1 Billion. This means Strategy now controls more than 3% of Bitcoin’s total supply of 21 million. In his post, Saylor also said that Strategy’s Bitcoin yield has reached 26% so far in 2025.

The company funded this new purchase through sales of its perpetual preferred stock series. This includes STRK, STRC, STRF, and STRD. These financial tools allow the company to raise money from investors and use it to buy more Bitcoin.

Saylor’s post ended with a line he often repeats when announcing new Bitcoin purchases:  The most crucial orange dot is always the next.

MicroStrategy Stock Programs Help Fund Bitcoin Purchases

Strategy’s preferred stock programs are a significant part of how the company continues to buy Bitcoin. Strategy Inc. operates at-the-market (ATM) sales programs totaling $21 Billion for STRK and $4.2 billion each for STRC and STRD. It also runs a $2.1 billion ATM program for STRF.

The funds raised through these programs go directly into Bitcoin purchases. This approach is part of Strategy’s larger “42/42” plan. It aims to raise a total of $84 billion through equity and convertible notes by 2027.

The plan was initially called “21/21” and had a smaller target of $42 Billion. However, the company decided to double it after the first phase was completed.

Each stock type serves a different purpose. STRD has a 10% non-cumulative dividend and carries the highest risk and reward. STRK offers an 8% non-cumulative dividend and can be converted into equity. STRF has a 10% cumulative dividend, making it more stable.

STRC is a variable-rate stock that pays monthly dividends and is designed to stay close to its par value. This mix of funding options gives Strategy flexibility in how it raises capital for future Bitcoin purchases. At the same time, it helps them in managing different levels of risk for investors.

Market Reaction and Broader Bitcoin Landscape

Strategy remains the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin in the world, according to Bitcoin Treasuries data. Other major public companies that hold Bitcoin include Mara Holdings, Tether-backed Twenty One, Metaplanet, and Riot Platforms.

Basically, these firms hold a large portion of all Bitcoin owned by corporations. It is worth noting that despite its growing Bitcoin stack, Strategy’s share price has fallen 36% since the summer.

On October 17, the stock closed at $289.87, up 2.1% for the day and 3.6% in pre-market trading as of Monday. However, the stock is still down 3.4% for the year, while Bitcoin has gained about 14.3% in 2025.

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Saylor said that Strategy’s financial structure was designed to handle major drops in Bitcoin’s price.

He said the company’s mix of equity, convertible debt, and preferred stock would provide financial stability. This structure could protect the business even if Bitcoin lost up to 90% of its value for years.

With its latest Bitcoin purchase, Strategy continues to follow its long-term plan of using available capital to grow its Bitcoin holdings.
