Crypto News: $1B Liquidated from Crypto Markets in 24 Hours

The crypto markets continue to weaken, with more liquidations scaring away traders from trading these digital assets. Over the last 24 hours, more than $1 billion has vanished from the crypto market cap.

This sharp drop triggered concern across the industry. Crypto news reports that experts like Ansem have closed all their positions.

Not only did Ansem lose his capital, but other highly leveraged traders also suffered losses. Additionally, some participants exchanged their volatile holdings for stablecoins to prevent further losses. This decline was a signal of capital rotation into stables.

Crypto News: Massive Liquidations Occur In The Last 24 Hours

Crypto news reports over $1.13 billion in liquidations in one day. Long positions accounted for the largest share. According to data from CoinGlass, more than $974 million, or nearly a billion dollars, was involved in long liquidations. On the other hand, shorts saw about $159 million wiped out.

The biggest liquidations occurred between the 4-hour and 12-hour timeframes, with the latter having almost double the volume of the former. In the last hour alone, over $64 million was wiped out. Liquidations are still rising. More traders are pulling out, adding to the pressure.

These liquidations hit high-leveraged traders hard. Early crypto adopters, including figures like Satoshi Nakamoto, also felt the impact.

Examining the key details of these liquidations, data from Lookonchain highlights the risks associated with high leverage. A whale’s position went from a profit of over $4 million to a loss of about $238K in only thirty minutes.

Crypto news reports that market order liquidations hit Bitcoin (BTC), Official Trump (TRUMP), and Ethena (ENA). Virtual Protocol (VIRTUAL) liquidations were still pending.

Traders held highly leveraged positions. This shows a lack of risk awareness. These liquidations caused nearly $19 billion in losses earlier this month.

This wipe-out led to more sell pressure in the crypto markets as participants lost confidence in holding these digital assets. The situation was worsened by the fact that these cryptos had shown recovery in the past five days since last weekend.

Apart from him, Satoshi Nakamoto also has close to $5 billion of his Bitcoin fortune. This puts him among the wealthiest individuals in the world. According to a post by Coin Bureau on X, the Bitcoin creator’s wealth dropped to $118.4 billion.

However, the pseudonymous veteran remained richer than Ambani, Bloomberg, and Bill Gates in the Forbes list. The pseudonymous account stayed still while other traders rotated their holdings into stables.

Stablecoin Reserves Across Exchanges Surge

The liquidations led to an increase in stablecoin reserves on exchanges, according to data from Ali Charts on X. On paper, the data showed growth from around $65 billion to $66.83 billion.

This represented more than $1 billion. The surge confirmed investors were moving their capital. They shifted from volatile assets to safer options.

Crypto news highlights a rise in stablecoin reserves. This increase contrasted with Bitcoin’s falling price, showing clear divergence. Historically, this hinted at a looming reversal, and in this context, a bearish one.

In conclusion, the crypto liquidations caused holders pain, resulting in some traders quitting the game. However, there was a glitch in this, as such events have preceded market rebounds. Still, there was a need to wait for a cool-off so that participants regained confidence.
