Gemini has removed trading fees on Ripple’s RLUSD/USD pair to make the stablecoin easier to use. Around the same time, Ripple announced a $500 million investment that brings its valuation to $40 billion.
This shows how both companies continue to expand their roles in the digital asset market.
Gemini Removes Fees to Encourage RLUSD Trading
Gemini has announced that trading fees on the RLUSD/USD pair are now removed. The exchange said the goal is to make RLUSD more available to users and easier to trade. By removing fees, Gemini aims to attract more traders and holders of RLUSD.

This move comes as stablecoins continue to play a larger role in crypto trading. The fee removal could help increase RLUSD’s trading volume and bring more users to Gemini’s platform.
It also supports Ripple’s broader effort to expand the use of RLUSD beyond payments, including in investment and trading services. In its official announcement on X, Gemini stated that anyone can now swap or hold RLUSD without paying extra costs.
Market participants believe this could help RLUSD gain more visibility and liquidity in the market. With both Ripple and Gemini promoting the stablecoin, RLUSD could become more common in exchanges and institutional platforms over time.
Ripple Gains $500 Million Investment and Expands Services
Ripple has secured a $500 million investment from top financial firms. Backers include Fortress, Citadel Securities, Pantera, Galaxy Digital, Brevan Howard, and Marshall Wace. This round values Ripple at $40 billion and marks one of the largest funding deals in the company’s history.
Ripple’s Chief Executive Officer, Brad Garlinghouse, stated that 2025 has been a strong year for Ripple and the broader cryptocurrency market.

He stated that the new investment supports Ripple’s long-term growth strategy. It also strengthens their focus on utilizing XRP and stablecoins for faster and more efficient payments.
Furthermore, Ripple has also expanded through acquisitions. In October, it bought GTreasury, a company that handles large payment volumes for Fortune 500 firms.
These businesses are developing a solution that utilizes stablecoins and digital assets to facilitate instant money transfers. This enables consumers to use their funds more effectively.
Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, has also grown quickly. It reached a market cap of $1 billion less than a year after launch. Ripple completed the purchase of Hidden Road, now renamed Ripple Prime, which already uses RLUSD as collateral.
Since the deal, client collateral has doubled, and daily transactions have risen above 60 million. More importantly, Ripple Prime now plans to offer collateralized lending for XRP and other digital asset products.
XRP Faces Price Pressure Despite Ripple’s Progress
As Ripple grows as a company, the XRP coin has faced short-term market pressure. However, as of the time of writing, it was trading at $2.55. This represents a 3% increase in the past 24 hours.
Technical charts show support near $2.08, with the 50-day moving average falling below $2.15. This suggests a softer short-term trend and a potential correction.
The daily relative strength index is close to the oversold zone at 30. Traders view this as a possible indication of a short-term bounce.
However, the signal may remain weak if overall market sentiment remains low. Resistance levels are seen at $2.20 and $2.35, which XRP would need to break to confirm a stronger recovery.
Analysts also noted that Bitcoin’s price stability will play a key role. When Bitcoin is volatile, altcoins like XRP tend to move in tandem.
Ripple’s business momentum remains strong. Gemini’s backing of RLUSD highlights their shared focus on long-term growth over short-term price swings.
As 2025 continues, Ripple’s $40 billion valuation and Gemini’s fee decision highlight how both firms are shaping the future of digital assets. Their combined efforts could make stablecoins and XRP more widely used by institutions and retail traders worldwide.
