The crypto market gained regulatory clarity on Monday as Ondo Finance announced that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission closed its long-running investigation into the project without filing charges. Consequently, ONDO price spiked more than 6%, outpacing most altcoins.
Ondo News: Regulatory Cloud Lifts After SEC Probe Ends
Ondo Finance confirmed that the SEC ended an investigation that had been running since 2023 and formally notified the company late last month. The review examined whether Ondo’s tokenization of U.S. Treasuries and other real-world assets complied with federal securities laws and whether the ONDO token should be subject to securities rules.
The regulator chose not to pursue enforcement action, according to the company. That outcome removes a legal overhang that had followed Ondo since 2024, when scrutiny of crypto projects under the previous SEC leadership reached its peak.
Notably, the probe began under the leadership of former US SEC Chair Gary Gensler. Since then, the agency has shifted its direction under new Chair Paul Atkins, who has adopted a more open stance toward digital assets and tokenization. The closure of the Ondo case marks a series of decisions in which the SEC has settled high-profile matters involving major industry names.
Market Reaction as ONDO Price and Volumes Jump
Traders quickly priced in the development. ONDO’s price jumped from about $0.4697 to just under $0.50 shortly after the company shared the update on X. The move represented an intraday gain of more than 6% and pushed the token ahead of many altcoins.

Data from market trackers showed a sharp increase in trading activity. Ondo price 24-hour volume climbed by more than 300% as speculative flows returned and short-term traders attempted to capture the move. The token later eased from its intraday high but held above earlier support levels, trading near $0.484 at last check.
The broader backdrop also helped. Bitcoin held above $91,500, helping maintain a constructive tone across large-cap crypto assets. However, ONDO price outperformed the wider market as investors focused on the end of the investigation and the regulatory path.
Tokenization Strategy and U.S. Expansion Plans
With the investigation closed, Ondo Finance turned attention to scaling its presence in U.S. capital markets. The firm already holds registration as an investment adviser and recently acquired Oasis Pro Markets, a regulated broker-dealer, alternative trading system operator, and transfer agent.
This structure gives Ondo a platform to offer tokenized versions of Treasuries and public equities within existing securities frameworks. The team reports that demand for tokenized Treasuries and tokenized equities continues to grow.

Ondo plans to outline its next phase at the Ondo Summit in New York on February 3, 2026. The event is expected to feature new tools for issuing and trading tokenized real-world assets and to set out a longer-term roadmap now that the SEC probe no longer shadows the project.
U.S. Regulatory Trend on Crypto and Tokenized Assets
The conclusion of the Ondo investigation coincides with broader shifts in the U.S. regulatory landscape. Under the current administration, the SEC eased the enforcement posture that characterized previous years. Chair Atkins publicly described tokenization as a key area for modernizing capital markets, noting its potential to streamline issuance, settlement, and record-keeping.
Recent months have seen the agency close or scale back several high-profile crypto matters involving large exchanges and protocols. At the same time, the SEC has opened more structured conversations with market participants.
That session explored how distributed ledger technology could support trading in public equities while maintaining investor protections.
For Ondo, this backdrop offers a more supportive environment to advance its strategy. The company has framed its mission around bringing Treasuries and listed equities on-chain in a manner that aligns with existing rules. With the confidential probe now over and new leadership at the agency, the project enters its summit year with fewer regulatory questions.
