Top Blockchain Trends That Can Transform The World In Next 10 Years
  • Some blockchain trends seem poised to transform industries in the coming decade.
  • DeFi 2.0 will enhance scalability and interoperability for the financial dApps.
  • Web3 adoption will enhance user control and data privacy.

Blockchain technology has managed to address different business issues. This digital distributed ledger technology has helped many companies improve existing processes by providing decentralized solutions.

This digital ledger securely stores records across a network of computers, known as blocks, which stay linked together. Blockchain technology makes any data in any industry immutable.

It is famous for managing thousands of cryptocurrencies, and the blockchain database maintains a secure record of transactions. Participants verify and confirm the authenticity of a transaction. Also, it lowers costs in the finance and banking sector by reducing the need for intermediaries.

Blockchain networks automate contract execution through smart contracts to ensure compliance. It has played an important role in the logistics sector by providing real-time tracking of goods to ensure transparency.

Many blockchain platforms provide data security in the healthcare sector by ensuring patient data privacy. It complies with regulations like HIPAA. Also, blockchain has provided transparency and security in real estate, government, cybersecurity, retail, entertainment, and more sectors.

In recent times, the interest in blockchain technology has surged. In this article, we will explore the top blockchain trends that have the potential to shape the next decade:

Top Blockchain Trends to Follow

Blockchain technology will keep solving various issues across different industries. In the next 10 years, we can expect these blockchain trends to emerge:

1. Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

Decentralized finance (DeFi) technology is changing the way people manage their money. It provides decentralized alternatives to traditional banking services. This technology reduces costs by allowing peer-to-peer transactions without intermediaries. DeFi even gives its users the power to have complete control over their assets. It eliminates the involvement of banks and other financial institutions.

DeFi can undergo significant transformations over the next decade. Many people are even using blockchain platforms to make cross-border payments for cost efficiency.

The next phase, DeFi 2.0, will improve scalability, liquidity, and interoperability and integrate traditional finance systems.

For example, perpetual liquidity pools and liquid staking will provide continuous and flexible liquidity to the users. Also, intents-based architecture simplifies user interactions, making DeFi more accessible. Governments have realized the potential of blockchain technology in different countries.

2. Tokenized Real-World Assets

Tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) will continue to be a major trend in the blockchain space over the next decade. Investors can tokenize any high-value property, such as real estate. They can exchange tokenized RWA to get high returns.

The market for tokenized RWAs might reach up to $10 trillion by 2030. This growth is driven by the increasing adoption of blockchain technology by traditional financial institutions.

Investors can purchase and sell fractions of assets like real estate, art, and commodities for high returns. Tokenization is likely to become a cornerstone of the financial markets.

3. Web3

Web3 is the next generation of the internet that operates on public blockchain networks. It aims to bring major improvements in the blockchain technology. Web 3.0 will give users back control over their data and digital identities through dApps.

It will improve scalability through sharding and layer-2 solutions. Additionally, Web3 will bolster security with advanced cryptographic techniques and decentralized identity systems.

Web3 technologies will reduce the dominance of big tech companies to promote a more democratic online environment. It will enable enabling secure, transparent, and efficient transactions. It will reportedly replace Web3 forever.

4. Blockchain as a service (BaaS)

Now, businesses can develop their own decentralized applications by collaborating with blockchain developers. Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS) allows companies to leverage blockchain technology’s capabilities without worrying about building their own infrastructure.

BaaS providers handle the complex backend operations, including resource allocation, bandwidth management, and data security. Companies can use blockchain services for supply chain management and identity verification.

5. Artificial Intelligence

Different businesses can integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology with blockchain. It is best for industries such as healthcare, fintech, and e-commerce. AI technology allows machines to make decisions.

It learns and understands things like humans do. On the other hand, blockchain offers a secure distributed ledger. Businesses can improve the security of their AI applications using blockchain technology.

Blockchain enhances AI by allowing it to access large databases. It also provides trustworthiness in data sharing. Also, AI technology adds intelligence to blockchain-based networks so they can analyze data faster.

6. Play To Earn Gaming

Play-to-earn (P2E) gaming is transforming the landscape through an inclusive and rewarding ecosystem. It leverages blockchain technology to allow players to earn rewards through in-game activities, such as acquiring, trading, and monetizing digital assets.

Axie Infinity (AXS) and The Sandbox (SAND) are the top P2E games with a huge increase in value in 2021. As blockchain technology advances and integrates with other innovations like NFTs and the metaverse, P2E gaming will attract more investments.

7. Layer 2 Networks

Layer 2 networks are built on top of Layer 1 by using third-party integrations and off-chain solutions to enhance scalability. The best examples of layer 2 solutions are Polygon, Arbitrum, and Base. Layer 2 networks will surely boost the adoption of blockchain in the future.

Rollups, plasma chains, and state channels operate on top of existing blockchain networks to enable faster transactions. A layer 2 (L2) network helps the mainnet network to avoid an overload of transactions. It enhances the performance of Layer 1 blockchains like Ethereum.

Layer 2 networks will support the growing demand for decentralized applications (dApps) and decentralized finance (DeFi).

8. Multi-Chain Technology

Good interoperability enables users to exchange data and assets smoothly between various blockchain networks. Now, multi-chain technology is there to allow different independent blockchains to exist within the same ecosystem.

Blockchain networks in multi-chain ecosystems operate independently but can interact with each other. It provides better interoperability by enabling seamless communication between different chains.
