- Bitcoin price is nearing the $100K mark. This anticipation was fueled by whale accumulation and solid market fundamentals.
- According to wallet statistics, retail, mid-tier, and whale investors are becoming more active.
- Rising open interest signaled growing investor confidence as Bitcoin approaches this key level again.
As the holiday season unfolds, the Bitcoin price is again approaching the $100,000 mark. This has sparked speculation that it may hit this key milestone before the year ends.
Per Santiment, Bitcoin’s ecosystem has shown notable strength, particularly among larger holders. Whale wallets largely drive the market’s upward trajectory with over 1,000 BTC. That has been consistently accumulating throughout 2024.
Moreover, the rise in open interest suggests growing investor confidence as Bitcoin price nears the $100k threshold. This green momentum appears to be underpinned by solid fundamentals. The same was reflected in the diverse distribution of Bitcoin across various holder categories.
If historical patterns hold, the token’s price could once again break through the $100,000 psychological barrier. Continued accumulation by whale investors would drive this growth.
BTC Wallet Distribution Outlook
Recent data revealed over 50 million small wallets held up to 0.1 BTC. With this, more than 4.3 million wallets contained between 0.1 and 10 BTC.
The market also showed substantial interest from larger holders. 150,130 wallets have held between 10 and 1,000 BTC, and 2,050 whale wallets control over 1,000 BTC. This pointed to continued institutional and high-net-worth investor participation.
Bitcoin’s wallet distribution suggested a strong market with broad involvement. Retail investors dominate, with 50.17 million wallets holding under 0.1 BTC.
These “shrimp” wallets, though small individually, reflect widespread adoption and growing interest from everyday investors. Their continued growth in 2024 signals robust grassroots market activity.
The 4.31 million wallets in the 0.1 to 10 BTC range, or “fish,” form a key part of the market foundation. These holders are usually long-term investors or skilled retail traders. Their stability amid price increases in 2024 showed strong confidence in Bitcoin’s future.

Larger Bitcoin wallets demonstrated consistent accumulation. That included 150,130 holding 10 to 1,000 BTC (“sharks”) and 2,050 whale wallets with over 1,000 BTC,
Santiment’s analysis suggested that growth in these upper-tier wallets often signals a bull market. These investors tend to have excellent market timing and long-term strategies.
Bitcoin open interests and BTC bulls
According to data from Coinglass, BTC’s open interests lie at $61.68 Billion. At the same time, the open interest in options was $43.45 Billion. This was a clear sign that Open Interest was joining the market before the Bitcoin price hit $100k.

Open interests are the total quantity of outstanding derivative contracts, such as futures or options that have not been settled. It’s a crucial metric utilized to measure market activity and sentiment.
Bitcoin Price Prediction: Will It Rise Or Fall
On the daily chart, Bitcoin price has bounced off the key support at the 50-day EMA but faces resistance near the 20-day EMA due to ongoing volatility. If the BTC price breaks above $99,000, it could surge to around $102,550.

Conversely, a failure to maintain the Bitcoin price’s bullish momentum could lead to a retest of the 50-day EMA at $93,106. Beneath this dynamic support, the concerns would increase for a potential rebound in the BTC price.
