- Algorand makes $EURD and $USDCa stablecoins supported by the MiCAR regulation for Europeans.
- Coinbase will no longer support $USDT and other non-compliant stablecoins by December 2024.
- The MiCAR regulations pressured consumers to seek regulated stablecoins such as $USDCa in Europe.
Considering the EU’s new regulations, Algorand is stepping up to lead the European crypto space.
They recently launched two MiCAR-compliant stablecoins, $EURD and $USDCa.
Launching these stablecoins would also create fully regulated and safe digital asset choices for European customers. This is under the Markets in Crypto Asset Regulation, abbreviated as MiCAR.
This comes as the European Union is already tightening the noose on stablecoin issuers by adjusting the regulations on digital assets. It will provide a more sound mechanism of how members of the respective countries transact and use other digital assets.
Algorand Introduces MiCAR-Compliant Stablecoins for European Users
Algorand unveiled $EURD and $USDCa. These stablecoins align with strict MiCAR guidelines and $USDCa. It is a regulated version of Circle’s widely used USDC stablecoin.
One of the tokens in this arena is the $USDCa token. It has over $114 Million in circulation and is growing in demand. The audience also seeks regulation-compliant solutions to non-compliant tokens.
$EURD is a fully regulated virtual currency issued by Quantoz Ltd., a Dutch company. With a 1:1 peg to the Euro, it has no transfer fees and is perfect for microtransactions and day-to-day transactions.
Both of those MiCAR-compliant stablecoins have been designed to address European citizens’ needs. This need includes safe, legal, and efficient digital assets in the context of evolving crypto markets.
Algorand Price Action Analysis: What Do Chart Say?
The daily chart showed that the Algorand price traded on a bearish track. It depicted a lack of buying momentum. It has traded below the key EMAs and guides a significant downtrend.
Over the last seven days, ALGO’s price has corrected by over 6%, which looks weak on the chart.
Recently, the altcoin price faced rejection from the 200-day EMA mark and pulled toward the make-or-break region of around $0.1200.
At press time, the ALGO price was trading at $0.1260 with an intraday decline of over 1.20%. The technical indicators were replicating a bearish stance.
Breaking below the $0.1100 mark would trigger more selling pressure ahead. The token could see a dip toward $0.1000 in the coming sessions.
A daily close above the $0.1380 level would validate the reversal. It could retest the upside zone of $0.1500 next.
MiCAR’s Effects On the Stablecoin Market: What To Expect?
The MiCAR is one of the most significant regulations in the market that the European Union governs. This covers extensive regulations for stablecoin issuers and is a new benchmark for the market.
MiCAR has laid down the provisions that to issue a stablecoin in the EEA, at least one EU member state e-money license is imperative.
Due to such stringent rules, several non-compliant stablecoins can only opt out of the European market. It also left those non-compliant coins off from some of the largest exchanges through delisting.
