Key Highlights:
- Whales Add 60K BTC Bitcoin whale holdings reach 3.485 million BTC
- $4B shorts at risk BTC at $90K could trigger mass liquidations
- Govs stack Bitcoin US and China lead with massive BTC reserves
At press time, Bitcoin (BTC) price was $84,351. On the other hand, the token saw a 0.23% increase from the previous trading session.
Today’s trading range peaked at $84,690 and fell as low as $83,612. This further demonstrated market stability.
Behind the scenes, significant market forces are influencing the situation. Whale accumulation is steadily increasing, while short sellers face mounting pressure. Historical price patterns also suggest a potential breakout.
CryptoQuant data revealed that Bitcoin whales have significantly increased their buying activity over the past week. They added over 60,000 BTC to their total holdings during this period.

The total Bitcoin ownership by whales has now risen to 3.485 million BTC. This increase reflects growing confidence in the market among institutional investors.
Meanwhile, analysts note that a $4 Billion short squeeze will occur if Bitcoin price reaches $90,000. Moving ahead, this could lead to a sudden BTC price increase.
Short Squeeze on the Horizon: $4 Billion in Liquidations if Bitcoin Price Hits $90K
At press time, Bitcoin price created significant stress for short sellers who have maintained bearish positions throughout the rally.
According to Coinglass, if BTC climbs to $90,000, it will trigger the liquidation of more than $4 Billion worth of short positions. A massive short squeeze would occur when traders close their positions, intensifying buying pressure.

Meanwhile, the cryptocurrency market has experienced mass short position liquidations as Bitcoin surpassed $80,000. Additionally, Market buy orders triggered additional price increases.
Bitcoin price will skyrocket when it reaches the $85,000-$90,000 area. This could be attributed to the significant growth in short-position forced closures.
Bitcoin vs. the Dollar—The Correlation That Always Delivers
The bullish outlook for BTC strengthens as its positive price trend continues. Its movements demonstrate a parallel relationship with the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY).
Per analyst Ash Crypto, the crypto enters strong rising trends when the DXY index peaks before descending. Also, the recent market data indicated that DXY has started its downward trend. It has historically triggered new Bitcoin price increases.

The dollar’s fall attracts value-seeking investors, who choose BTC as an alternative store of wealth. As a result, it boosts the token’s price.
The Bitcoin Space Race: Governments Are Stacking BTC
Moreover, the token accumulation has expanded beyond institutional investors as governments are engaged in BTC stockpiling activities.
A post on X by CryptoGoos revealed the US government maintains the largest sovereign Bitcoin position, with 198,109 BTC. The strategic financial value of the token has led China to follow by accumulating 190,000 BTC.

The transition indicated the token is evolving from speculative status into its role as a fundamental reserve asset.
Hence, the continued BTC acquisition by governments and institutions reduces the circulating supply and makes the cryptocurrency more scarce. This strengthened its long-term value potential.
Bitcoin’s Next Move—Could It Follow the 2020 CME Gap Rally?
The current BTC setup matches the 2020 rally period. A gap in CME futures functioned as the starting point for a substantial price surge. Analysis conducted by Coinvo showed that Bitcoin’s 2025 CME gap repeats the pattern from 2020.

If the same pattern repeats in 2025, it could lead to another significant Bitcoin price surge. Experts predict that prices might reach and even exceed $100,000.
Even Michael Saylor, co-founder of MicroStrategy, has weighed in on Bitcoin’s trajectory. He stated, “It (Bitcoin) is about to become the largest asset in the world in the next 48 months.”
BTC price movement is setting up ideal conditions for its most significant surge yet. This is driven by increasing whale accumulation and mounting pressure on short sellers.
