Key Insights:
- Bitcoin price touches $118K amid surge in Binance net taker volume
- Analyst forecasts $258K peak if power curve trend holds
- ETF inflows and macro shifts fuel $300K–$500K rally potential
Bitcoin (BTC) has surged 10% in July to reach a new all-time high of $118,600. The rally coincides with heightened buying pressure on Binance and a sharp rise in institutional exposure via exchange-traded funds.
Analyst apsk32 flagged this rally as potentially entering an “extreme greed” phase, warning that Bitcoin is ahead of its long-term growth trendline by over two years. The current price level places BTC above 79% of all historical price data under the “Power Law Time Contours” framework.

“These are the blow-off tops that come around every four years,” apsk32 said on X.
The model places the “extreme greed” zone between $112,000 and $258,000—an area previously seen during Bitcoin peaks in 2013, 2017, and 2021. If the four-year cycle holds, the analyst suggested Bitcoin could reach between $200,000 and $300,000 by December.
Power Curve Models Forecast Bitcoin Price $258K Target
According to apsk32, Bitcoin’s price has consistently adhered to a power curve—a model reflecting exponential growth over time. But instead of just tracking dollar movements, the Power Law Time Contours measure price deviation in both time and value.
The analyst noted that Bitcoin is currently over two years ahead of its long-term trajectory. This deviation, if sustained, aligns with what the model defines as a blow-off top.
“We’re now inside the upper 20% of all historical deviations,” he wrote. “That’s where explosive tops tend to occur.”
If history repeats, Bitcoin could target the upper end of this zone—$258,000—before the market cools entering 2026.
ETF Demand Narrows Gap With Gold
Fresh inflows into spot BTC exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have supported this momentum. According to Ecoinometrics, BTC ETFs have captured 70% of gold’s year-to-date net inflows.

The narrowing divergence in institutional preference has not gone unnoticed. Fidelity’s Jurrien Timmer recently noted on X that Bitcoin’s Sharpe ratio, the risk-adjusted return metric, has nearly caught up with gold’s.
“The baton has swung back to Bitcoin,” Timmer said.
Weekly data from 2018 through July 2025 shows Bitcoin’s performance (1x) closing in on gold (4x), with current Sharpe-adjusted values at $16.95 and $20.34, respectively.
The shift reflects changing sentiment. Bitcoin remains loosely correlated to risk assets like the Nasdaq 100 but shows weak correlation to bonds and gold, signaling a unique risk-return profile.
Binance Sees $200M Surge in Taker Volume
The bullish momentum has not been limited to investor sentiment. On-chain metrics confirm growing exchange activity.

According to Binance data cited by analyst Amr Taha, the platform’s Net Taker Volume surpassed $200 million, marking the first time since Feb. 2025 that buying volume has breached this threshold.
The move reflects aggressive order lifting, a behavior often associated with market breakouts. Simultaneously, Binance recorded inflows of over 4,500 BTC. The last time such inflows occurred, they preceded a wave of profit-taking.
Taha warned that although the current setup remains bullish, traders should monitor for signs of reversal.
Macro Shifts Could Fuel a $500K Run
Satraj Bambra, CEO of Rails, pointed to potential macroeconomic catalysts for a longer-term Bitcoin surge.
He identified a dovish turn by the Federal Reserve, driven by rising tariffs and a weakening U.S. economy, as a key trigger. Bambra highlighted the U.S. Dollar Index falling below 100 as an early sign of a policy pivot.
“I see Bitcoin going parabolic in the region of $300K–500K,” he told Cointelegraph.
This scenario would mirror 2020, when a sharp Fed pivot and expanding balance sheet drove an institutional crypto boom.
Bitcoin Price Cycle Nears Euphoria Phase
Bitcoin now trades deep in what apsk32 labeled the “euphoria zone.” The model suggests the next move could be violent, upward toward a parabolic climax or downward into consolidation.

Historical patterns, ETF flows, macro shifts, and on-chain activity all converge to support continued momentum. But with buying pressure accelerating and price pushing further from trendline support, profit-taking risk also grows.
The coming weeks could decide whether Bitcoin breaks past $200,000 or retreats as traders digest recent gains.
