Breaking News: Morgan Stanley Removes Limits on Bitcoin and Crypto Investments

Morgan Stanley, which manages $8 trillion in assets, has announced plans to remove all limits on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency investments for its wealth management clients, effective October 15.

The bank will allow investments through BlackRock and Fidelity’s Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs).

All Morgan Stanley Clients Can Now Invest in Bitcoin

Morgan Stanley has decided to open Bitcoin and crypto investments to all its wealth management clients.

This represents a significant shift from the bank’s previous policy, which had allowed only a select group of high-net-worth investors to invest in crypto funds.

The bank has already informed its financial advisors about the new plan.

Starting October 15, every client, including those with retirement accounts, will be able to invest in Bitcoin and other digital assets.

For now, these investments will only be available through BlackRock and Fidelity’s Bitcoin ETFs.

Until now, only clients with at least $1.5 million in assets and an aggressive risk profile could invest in crypto.

The new decision removes those limits, giving all clients the same opportunity to buy into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

The change follows a consistent rise in institutional interest in crypto. It also aligns with a recent executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump that allows 401(k) retirement accounts to include cryptocurrency assets.

Morgan Stanley’s move suggests that traditional banks are beginning to integrate cryptocurrency into their investment portfolios as a standard part of their operations.

The bank also plans to introduce crypto trading services for its E-Trade clients next year.

When that begins, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana will be the first cryptocurrencies available on the platform.

Bank Suggests Careful Approach to Crypto Investments

Alongside the policy change, Morgan Stanley’s investment team has shared new guidelines for investors.

The bank advised that clients seeking growth could set aside up to 4% of their portfolios for cryptocurrency.

Those who prefer a moderate approach could invest about 3%, while balanced investors could put in around 2%.

In its note, the bank described crypto as a speculative and popular asset class. It added that not every investor would want to include it, but that it has become too significant to ignore.

Notably, this advice shows that the bank is encouraging clients to view Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as part of a broader investment plan rather than a short-term gamble.

It also shows a cautious optimism toward digital assets, acknowledging both their potential and their risks.

By giving all clients access, Morgan Stanley is making it easier for more people to decide for themselves whether to include crypto in their portfolios.

Analysts Caution About Bitcoin’s Price Fluctuations

While Morgan Stanley’s new policy has been welcomed by many in the crypto market.

Some analysts have warned that Bitcoin could face fresh volatility. Bloomberg strategist Mike McGlone said Bitcoin might lose half its value compared to gold.

He explained that the Bitcoin-to-gold ratio, currently at approximately 30 ounces of gold per Bitcoin, could drop to the mid-teens if market conditions become unstable.

This could weaken the long-held idea that Bitcoin serves as “digital gold.”

In addition, Bitcoin tried to rise above $124,000 but quickly fell below $120,000 within hours.

Despite this, its share of the total crypto market has reached its highest point in nearly two months.

This indicates that many investors continue to place their confidence in Bitcoin over smaller cryptocurrencies.

Morgan Stanley’s decision to remove its restrictions marks another step toward wider acceptance of crypto in traditional finance.

Although prices may continue to move sharply, the bank’s move suggests that digital assets are becoming a more common feature of long-term investment planning.
