Coinbase Launches Token Sales Platform for US Retail Investors

Coinbase Global Inc. launched a new token sales platform. It lets US retail users join digital coin offerings for the first time since 2018.

CEO Brian Armstrong announced the first token sale on X, which will run from November 17 to 22. It aims to ensure a fair and open distribution.

Coinbase Unveils a Fairer Way to Distribute Tokens

Coinbase has introduced a token sales platform that allows regular users to purchase new digital currencies early. Chief Executive Officer Brian Armstrong announced the plan on X.

He stated that genuine, long-term supporters should have better access to new projects, rather than only large investors and insiders. The new service aims to create a fair process for both users and token issuers.

It allows teams to distribute their tokens more widely while building stable liquidity on the exchange. Each sale will remain open for a set period, typically around one week. During that time, users can place requests for tokens.

When the sale closes, Coinbase’s system will decide the final allocations. Additionally, a method called “filling up from the bottom” gives smaller buyers higher priority. This process distributes ownership more widely, rather than concentrating tokens among a few large buyers.

Coinbase also plans to limit allocations in future sales for users who sell their tokens within 30 days. This encourages longer holding periods and stronger community ties. The company says all sales will include clear information about the project, token supply, and the team behind it.

Issuers and their affiliates are prohibited from selling tokens on secondary markets for a period of six months. This restriction begins right after the initial sale.

Coinbase will approve and disclose any exceptions. Notably, users will not pay participation fees, while issuers will pay a small fee based on the amount of USDC they receive.

In addition, Coinbase expects to host about one token sale per month so that each project receives proper attention and support from its global platform.

US Retail Users Return After Seven Years

This launch marks the first time in seven years that retail users in the United States can join public token sales on Coinbase.

The company disclosed that the move opens access to millions of customers who were unable to take part since 2018.

It could also boost participation from everyday investors who want early exposure to new crypto projects.

Users can sign in to their Coinbase accounts and submit requests during each sale period.

The allocation system will handle all submissions fairly, regardless of when requests are placed during the window.

Coinbase says this structure avoids the “first come, first served” rush that has often favored those with faster access or larger funds.

Coinbase has encouraged customers to follow its official X account, Coinbase, for updates on upcoming token sales and participating projects.

The company plans to expand access to more countries after the initial rollout.

Monad to Hold First Token Sale on Coinbase

The first project to use the new platform will be the Monad Foundation. It will sell its MON token ahead of the launch of the Monad Public Mainnet on November 24, 2025. The sale will run from November 17 to November 22, offering up to 7.5 billion MON tokens at $0.025 per token.

As detailed, the minimum purchase is $100, and the maximum is $100,000. Higher limits may apply to Coinbase One subscribers. MON is the native token of the Monad blockchain. It will be used for gas fees, staking, and supporting validators and developers.

If the sale receives more requests than available tokens, Coinbase’s allocation system will ensure broader distribution among participants. Any remaining tokens will go toward ecosystem growth.

Coinbase’s new token sales platform gives projects a regulated and organized way to reach real users. It also provides US retail investors with transparent access to new tokens. This marked a major step in the growth of the digital asset market.
