Tether Expands in Latin America With Stake in Parfin

Tether has expanded its reach in Latin America through an investment in Parfin, a digital asset platform in the region.

The move aimed to grow the use of USD₮ in institutional markets, support blockchain settlement, and strengthen activity across Latin America.

Tether Invested to Support Institutional Blockchain Use

According to its official announcement, Tether invested in Parfin to help more institutions in Latin America use USD₮ for daily operations.

Notably, the focus of the move was to expedite settlement and support areas such as tokenization, custody, and trading.

Tether said the step was part of its plan to support tools that enable banks and firms to utilize digital assets in a simple and secure manner.

The digital asset sector in Latin America continued to grow, and Tether said this created space for new services.

In addition, the company stated that USD₮ could support cross-border activity, real-world asset tokenization, and market credit systems.

These included trade finance receivables, commercial receivables, and credit card receivables.

Tether viewed these areas as strong use cases for USD₮ because many institutions searched for stable settlement assets.

Parfin serves as a platform that provides custody, tokenization, trading, and digital asset management services.

The company aimed to help institutions explore blockchain tools with clear systems and secure frameworks.

It is important to add that Parfin also built products that focused on privacy and regulatory needs.

Similarly, the company combined ease of use with technical standards that banks and large firms required for operations.

Tether stated that the partnership with Parfin could create a stronger link between traditional finance and blockchain services.

The company said Latin America remained one of the most active regions in global digital asset use.

Tether added that more stable settlement tools could support the rising interest in blockchain-based systems across the region.

Per the development, Parfin welcomed the investment. The company said the support strengthened its plan to bring financial tools on-chain.

The firm pointed to its Parfin Platform and Rayls system as key parts of this plan.

The company said these tools were designed to meet the needs of institutions that want safe access to digital assets.

Regional Activity Helped Shape the Partnership

Latin America recorded steady growth in cryptocurrency use, and this trend shaped the timing of the investment.

The Chainalysis 2025 Geography of Cryptocurrency Report showed that the region reached nearly $1.5 trillion in transaction volume.

This made Latin America one of the most active regions in global digital asset activity.

Institutional demand played a major role in this rise. More banks and firms looked for ways to use blockchain and stable assets in daily operations.

Several countries in the region also made regulatory decisions that supported digital asset adoption.

These steps helped more institutions explore blockchain tools without major barriers.

Tether said the partnership with Parfin matched these changes. The company believed USD₮ could support settlement and wider liquidity flows.

Again, Parfin stated that its system would integrate USD₮, allowing institutions to use it for tokenization and other on-chain processes. The firms said that the region’s growth made the collaboration timely.

Tether Just Set Crucial Precedence

Market participants believe that the collaboration between Tether and Parfin could shape how institutions in Latin America use digital assets in the future.

The investment supported platforms that aimed to make blockchain settlement smoother.

More importantly, the partnership could also help institutions adopt blockchain tools for high-value markets, including receivables and other credit-based systems.

Parfin said its focus would remain on secure and compliant solutions. Tether said the investment reflected its long-term interest in the region’s progress.

Both companies viewed the partnership as a step that could support stronger digital asset infrastructure in Latin America.

In addition to the above, last month, the US Dollar-pegged stablecoin USDT,  reached 500 million users.
