Solana Overtakes Ethereum in 2025 Crypto Mindshare Race

Solana entered 2025 as the most visible blockchain in terms of social engagement, activity on the chain, and ecosystem expansion. Recent data has Solana ahead of crypto mindshare, while price trades around a critical technical zone. At the same time, Visa’s USDC settlement expansion on Solana is indicative of deeper institutional integration.

Solana Becomes the Mindshare Leader in 2025

Solana emerged as the blockchain with the strongest mindshare in 2025. Data tracking social engagement and actual activity positions Solana at the top of the pack, surpassing all major networks. This leadership reflected consistent usage, rather than short-lived attention spikes.

The network ranked 1st among Layer 1 and Layer 2 chains in overall social media mindshare. It also remained close to the top in terms of metrics related to active users and developers. That consistency helped to build Solana’s reputation as a blockchain with high traffic.

Importantly, the breadth of Solana’s ecosystem played a central role. The network hosts a wide range of decentralized applications that are used on a daily basis. Many of these applications are expected to be active and continuing through 2025.

This diversity helped Solana to avoid relying on a single narrative. Instead, it developed visibility across trading, payments, NFTs, and consumer apps. As a result, attention remained focused on real activity rather than speculation.

How Solana Captured Nearly 27% of Total Crypto Mindshare

An analysis published by CoinGecko revealed the Solana blockchain holding 26.79% of the total crypto mindshare. Base followed with 13.94%, while Ethereum accounted for 13.43%. Solana’s share was larger than Ethereum and Base combined.

Ethereum’s mindshare still improved year-over-year. It has increased from 10.76% in 2024, which is a significant increase. However, it was still far below Solana’s level.

There were other networks that also posted gains. Sui added almost seven percentage points to reach 11.77%. BNB Chain increased its share by four points to 9.05%.

The distribution was very similar to social media dynamics. Solana had the biggest cluster of key opinion leaders. That exposure attracted non-stop attention to its applications and builders.

Smaller ecosystems had mixed results. Hyperliquid came in at a 1.57% share. Meanwhile, Arbitrum experienced a significant decline from above 3% to 0.60%.

Several networks fell completely out of focus. ZKSync, Polkadot, Fantom, and Aptos lost relative visibility. These shifts emphasized the importance of attention supporting consistent engagement.

Solana Price Trading at Key Decision Zone

While mindshare was holding up well, Solana price came under short-term pressure. The token just recently traded near the $125 level following a sharp pullback. This zone was previously a high-demand zone.

According to a chart analysis shared by market observers, Solana price has often reacted strongly here. Price historically either makes a strong rebound or sweeps lower liquidity. That makes the current range technically important.

Short-term charts indicated falling momentum into this support. However, volume patterns indicated that there was active participation near the lows. Directional moves frequently follow this behavior.

Analysts said there were two possible scenarios. A strong bounce could aim for $140 to $150.

Alternatively, a deeper dip towards the $110 zone is possible.

Despite the short-term doubt, the long-term structure remained intact. Higher timeframes kept showing a wider area of consolidation. This makes Solana price strongly correlated with the overall market sentiment.

Visa’s USDC Settlement Expansion

Meanwhile, recent developments have helped to strengthen Solana’s institutional positioning. Visa announced the U.S. rollout of USDC settlement for issuer and acquirer partners. The program allows obligations to be settled directly in Circle’s dollar-backed stablecoin.

This represented the domestic stage of a settlement initiative that is already underway on a large scale. Visa reported a $3.5 billion annualized run rate as of late November. The expansion is targeted at banks, fintechs, and treasury teams.

Notably, USDC transactions will initially be settled by the initial participants on the Solana blockchain. Cross River Bank and Lead Bank were listed among early adopters.

This puts Solana at the forefront of actual payment infrastructure.

Visa said the move allows for near-instant settlement and seven-day availability. It also helps improve liquidity predictability around weekends and holidays. The consumer card experience is the same.

Executives said there was increasing demand from banking partners. Visa expects to expand access to more clients in the U.S. by 2026. The company also plans to have deeper collaboration with Circle.

Solana will be able to support Circle’s upcoming Arc blockchain. Visa plans to run a validator node after Arc goes live. This again integrates Solana into programmable payment rails.
