Solana has deployed post-quantum signatures on its testnet. It is working to make the network quantum. Concerns about the impact of quantum computing on blockchain networks are growing.
Solana Foundation announced this development on X, noting that it is collaborating with Project Eleven for the project. According to its post, it is taking this step in advance of a quantum computing breakthrough.
It said:
“Quantum computers aren’t here yet, but Solana Foundation is preparing for the possibility. To that end, we’ve consulted with Project Eleven to assess our quantum readiness.”
Project Eleven Assesses Solana for Quantum Resistance
According to a press release from Project Eleven, the company has conducted a comprehensive threat assessment for the Solana network. This is to see how advancements in quantum computing will affect Solana’s core infrastructure and features.
The assessment results were not disclosed. The official statement said the team is preparing the network. It also said they prototyped a post‑quantum signature system on the Solana testnet. The test demonstrated that end-to-end quantum-resistant transactions are possible on Solana.
However, these moves only represent initial steps. Project Eleven will continue to evaluate the Solana network as the ecosystem works toward adopting post-quantum technology.
Speaking on the development, Project Eleven CEO Alex Pruden noted that it highlights Solana’s proactiveness. Interestingly, several other networks have also discussed addressing post-quantum risks.
He said:
“Our mission is to protect the world’s digital assets from quantum risk. Solana didn’t wait for quantum computers to become a headline problem. They invested early, asked the hard questions, and took actionable steps today. The results show that post-quantum security on Solana is viable with today’s technology.”

While Solana may not be quantum-resistant yet, the network is demonstrating its security resilience in other areas. According to reports, Solana has been under a sustained DDoS attack for the past week. However, it has not shown any signs of impact.
SOL Plunges to Multi-Month Lows as Solana Sees More Adoption
Solana’s efforts to quantum-proof its blockchain network are only one of the several developments on the blockchain network. It is also set to have its next major upgrade, Alpenglow, very soon.
With its technical developments, Solana’s institutional adoption is also growing. Visa recently launched Stablecoin settlements for US banks on Solana with an annualized run rate of $3.5 billion.
JP Morgan and Galaxy also issued tokenized commercial paper on the network. At the same timee, Bhutan is tokenizing its sovereign gold reserves on the network.
Interestingly, Solana spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have also seen reasonable inflows since their launch. The products have seen consecutive days of inflows, with $35.2 million inflow on December 15.
Despite all the institutional adoption, the Solana token continues to struggle. SOL has fallen below $130, marking its lowest price since April 2025. The token is now down 34.19% year-to-date, with over 46% decline happening in the past 90 days.
