Quantum computing, a potential threat to Bitcoin (BTC), continues to captivate crypto enthusiasts. Ripple (XRP) is positioning itself as a leader in quantum-resistant security, strengthening its long-term viability.
Such advancements could significantly influence XRP price movements in the altcoin market. This piece looks to streamline the XRP ecosystem, with these features expected to bring in more demand for the token.
XRP Ledger Pioneers Quantum-Resistant Blockchain Security
By incorporating CRYSTALS-Dilithium cryptography into its AlphaNet testnet, the XRP Ledger (XRPL) enabled quantum-resistant accounts and transactions.
By replacing XRP’s earlier programming, this post-quantum signature scheme protects against potential threats from quantum computing. Such attacks could undermine conventional encryption.
It required larger 2,420-byte proofs than the 65-byte ECDSA signatures. However, Dilithium employed lattice-based math for strong security.

To establish XRPL as a pioneer in long-term quantum-based security, developers can now test its secure features. These include updated validator consensus protocols. Thus, XRP ETFs saw more than $70.2 million last week.
XRPL’s deployment represented a significant step toward quantum-proof blockchains. They were rare at press time. However, there were competitors like Cellframe that claimed earlier adoption than that of XRP in this new field.
XRP Price Prediction: Echoing 2017 Patterns Amid 2025 Volatility
As the XRP price entered 2026, analysts like Stephanie Is Crypto were eyeing a repeat of the price pattern for 2017. The downtrend ended with a breakout from the accumulation pattern; a similar one is being repeated.
Then, XRP price stayed in a range, but then it shot up to $3.84 as 2024 came to an end. Once more, following the correction that began as Q2 drew closer, XRP soared to a peak of $3.60 in July 2025.
The price rally was driven by fundamentals, which contributed to this maturity. However, the rally to $1.85 recently showed that things were different from the previous one.

For instance, the 2017 frenzy didn’t have any institutional backing. Right now, other products will be fighting against it. These developments could mean that XRP gains can skyrocket in the future. If
XRP breaks past the hurdle at $2.20; the fractals show that the resultant rally could be parabolic from $3.65. However, some people were worried that prices could decline after the rally.
As December comes to a close, XRP price trades at a key support level, which elicits optimism from holders.
Looming XRP Supply Shock and XRP Price Instability
Glassnode reported that by December 2025, XRP balances on all exchanges fell sharply. Traders reduced holdings to about 1.5 billion tokens, signaling strong outflows. This was the lowest point since early 2018. The balance dropped from more than 4 billion XRP at the start of the year.
But what is driving this looming XRP supply shock on major exchanges? These important factors included U.S. spot XRP ETF inflows, with about 750 million XRP tokens coming in. Analysts say that moves to self-custody and institutional holdings could make the supply tighter.

However, the drop in exchange reserves could help ease the short-term pressure to sell. There were still other things in the market that could change the outcome, for instance, crypto regulations.
Furthermore, reserves on the Binance exchange also hit six-month lows. As December came to an end, the XRP price was trading around $1.90, but in July, it was worth more than $3.50.
This drop showed that the market was still unstable, even though there were problems with supply.
