After the US attack on Venezuela over the past weekend, global markets are now bracing for key US data releases this week. The ISM Manufacturing PMI data and the US jobs data will be key to watch. The cryptocurrency market is already reacting to the development, with the Bitcoin price gaining 3% on January 5 in Asia.
Key US Data To Look For This Week
After the US military intervention in Venezuela over the past weekend, all eyes are now on the key US data release and macro events this week. Global markets are heading into an eventful week, marked by a series of significant geopolitical and macroeconomic developments. This could potentially set the tone for investor sentiment in 2026.
The market is already reacting, with top oil giants like ExxonMobil and Chevron surging 7-11% in the overnight trading session on Sunday. For now, the energy markets will take the lead amid the geopolitical developments.
On Tuesday, attention will turn to the US data release of the December ISM Manufacturing PMI, a key indicator of U.S. industrial activity.
Wednesday brings a heavy data slate, including the December ADP Nonfarm Employment report and the November JOLTS Job Openings data. Both of them will provide insights into labour market conditions ahead of the official Jobs report.
A very important indicator, also known as the US Jobs data for December, will be released on Friday, January 9. Later, the January Michigan Consumer Sentiment data will provide insights into household confidence at the start of the year.
Crypto Market Turns Positive Ahead of US Data Release
The cryptocurrency market has started the first big week of 2026 on a stronger footing. The total market capitalization rose by approximately $200 billion to reach $3.2 trillion. This shows a broad-based recovery across digital assets.
Bitcoin continues to dominate market activity, with Bitcoin dominance standing at 58.6%. Meanwhile, the Altcoin Season Index is currently at 26 out of 100. This indicates that a significant portion of the capital remains invested in Bitcoin.
Investor sentiment has also shown signs of stabilization. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index has moved back into the “Neutral” zone. Thus, investors seem to be in a risk-aversion mode after facing recent volatility.

Market participants say the combination of rising valuations, steady Bitcoin dominance, and improving sentiment points to a maturing market environment. They expect the investor confidence to increase gradually in 2026.
BTC Remains Resilient Against Geopolitical Tensions
Despite the geopolitical uncertainty surrounding U.S. involvement in Venezuela, the BTC price movement has shown optimism. Bitcoin’s on-chain data suggests a more measured response than in past cycles.
Furthermore, there’s no surge in the number of BTC moving to exchanges for selling purposes. Historically, sharp increases in exchange inflows have coincided with heightened fear and panic selling. That pattern is notably absent in the current environment.

On the other hand, Strategy’s Michael Saylor has hinted at further BTC purchases. According to the latest figures, Strategy now holds 672,497 Bitcoin, acquired at an average price of approximately $74,997 per BTC. Market watchers noted that past updates marked by similar signals have often preceded major Bitcoin purchases by the company.
