Ethereum has seen a notable increase in its price recently. In the past several days, the altcoin has risen from around $2.4K to under $2.8K.
As of June 12, 2025, ETH was trading at $2,811.61. This marks a 1.83% increase in the last 24 hours and an 8.30% rise over the past week. This surge indicates a steady uptrend in the market, with Ethereum demonstrating strong bullish momentum.
Meanwhile, institutional interest in the asset, especially from large entities like BlackRock, continues to grow. This provides further insight into the asset’s evolving position in the market.
BlackRock Increases Ethereum Holdings as Institutional Demand Grows
BlackRock has made significant moves in the Ethereum space, now holding 1.5 million ETH, valued at $2.71 Billion. Over the last 10 days, the asset management giant has accumulated $500 Million worth of Ethereum.
Despite its price being 48% below its all-time high, it showcases growing institutional conviction in the altcoin.

Furthermore, Ethereum-based exchange-traded products (ETPs) have attracted significant capital inflows. Last week, Ether ETPs led the market with $296 Million in inflows, continuing a seven-week streak of positive movement.
This marks the longest stretch since the 2024 U.S. election, highlighting institutional interest in Ethereum. Meanwhile, data showing a steady accumulation in Ethereum spot ETFs further emphasizes the increase in Ethereum holdings.
ON June 9, these funds saw their fourth consecutive week of net inflows, adding nearly 98,000 ETH. Total Ethereum holdings have reached 3.77 million. There is still room for further upside. Current levels remain below the February 2025 peak of 3.81 million ETH.
Derivatives Market Activity
In Ethereum’s derivatives market, there has been a slight decrease in trading activity. Ethereum derivatives volume saw a 2.73% decline, currently at $111.38 Billion.

This drop suggests a reduction in short-term trading activity, possibly due to market uncertainty. However, the open interest in Ethereum derivatives has risen by 2.26%, totaling $41.2 Billion.
This increase points to traders maintaining longer-term positions, anticipating possible significant price fluctuations soon.
The options market has experienced a similar mixed trend. While options volume dropped by 7.33%, totaling $1.91 Billion, the open interest in Ethereum options has increased by 4.49%. This brought the total to $9.45 Billion.
Traders are adopting a long-term perspective on ETH’s price movement. More participants are holding their positions instead of closing them.
Liquidation Trends and Market Sentiment
Over the past 24 hours, Ethereum experienced $106.75 Million in liquidations. Short positions make up the majority at $57.54 Million. This liquidation trend provides insight into the current market sentiment, with short positions under pressure due to recent price movements.
Liquidations have been more concentrated in long positions over the 4-hour and 12-hour periods, suggesting significant volatility in the market.
Notably, the technical outlook for ETH has caught the attention of veteran analyst Peter Brandt. He pointed to a potential breakout for Ethereum, noting the shift from a descending channel to a symmetrical triangle pattern.

Ethereum price has tested key support and resistance levels. This included a recent low of $2,392 on June 6 and resistance around the $2,700 mark. This consolidation phase could set the stage for a breakout, aligning with the asset’s recent price behavior.
Regarding market momentum, Ethereum’s 18-period moving average is trending upward, offering a dynamic support level. This upward movement supports the idea of a short-term bullish trend,
However, the Average Directional Index (ADX) reading of 22.72 suggested that the trend remains weak. The ADX value under 25 points to a market still consolidating rather than experiencing strong directional movement.
