World Liberty Financial marked U.S. Independence Day with the launch of a new proposal that may allow its token, $WLFI, to be traded beyond its existing private network. The move is part of a broader plan to increase community participation and token utility.
World Liberty Financial Trading Proposal Marks a Pivotal Development
Notably, World Liberty Financial has recently released a community proposal to introduce the trading of its token, $WLFI, on external exchanges. This covers both secondary markets and direct peer-to-peer transfers after the community approves.
The move was announced on July 4 and was framed as the symbol of decentralization and increased access.

According to a post on the company’s X account, the proposal is intended to expand World Liberty Financial usability while aligning with the project’s long-term development roadmap. The company referred to the move as a return to crypto’s founding ethos. More so, it invited the community to vote on enabling token transfers outside the project’s current internal structure.
In addition, the vote will allow the token holders to make a direct input into the course of action in $WLFI. If accepted, it would set off a new phase in token circulation, and not only could the first adopters freely trade within wider markets.
Transfer Unlocking and Long-Term Commitments
Should the proposal pass, extra mechanisms will be implemented to control the token unlocking schedules. The team will enable early contributors who participated in the first distribution round to transfer. Nevertheless, additional community feedback will be required through another vote to release tokens to these participants fully.
With this structure, the project can control its circulating supply and reward those early backers. An updated unlocking scheme will also be applied to founders, advisors, and internal personnel. These tokens will undergo a longer lock-in duration to promote long-term focus towards project targets.
Moreover, the proposal features a gradual release of tokens. Early adopters can provide liquidity initially, and further community governance can decide additional distribution schedules. Certain time and eligibility terms will be determined based on the success of the voting process.
World Liberty Financial New Governance Powers for Token Holders
Meanwhile, the governance structure around $WLFI will shift following the voting process. Token holders will be given expanded decision-making power over several key areas, including emissions control, ecosystem incentive mechanisms, and treasury allocations.
Besides, these changes are attributed to a broader trend of decentralized governance. Allowing users to vote about emission adjustments and funding allocation helps the team make the system formal concerning stakeholder involvement in the evolution of the protocol.
This includes how newly minted tokens are distributed, how funds are allocated to ecosystem development, and which areas receive support from the project treasury.
World Liberty Financial plans to issue additional guidance on the proposed governance structure after the first vote. All the current holders of $WLFI can vote and will do so using safe platforms validated by the project.
Strategic Growth and Past Collaborations
Notably, the announcement came after a year of active development and network expansion for World Liberty Financial. At that time, the project progressed across several domains, including product development, ecosystem engagement, and branding. According to the team, community interest in enabling token transfers has grown steadily, prompting the proposal’s launch.
In a separate initiative late last month, World Liberty Financial partnered with London-based technology firm Re7 Labs. The partnership was to increase the circulation of the USD1 stablecoin offered by the company, further diversifying the project. This partnership highlighted the group’s larger interest in developing a digital financial ecosystem of various instruments.
