SBI Holdings Files for XRP and Bitcoin ETF
However, SBI Holdings is the country’s first major financial giant to develop the applications.
According to the recent filing, the firm has filed two new ETFs, the Crypto Asset ETF, which will offer Japanese traditional investors access to both Bitcoin (BTC) and XRP, together with a few more.
The other ETF is the Digital Gold Crypto ETF, which has allocated 51% of its fund to Gold ETFs, and the remaining 49% will contain a crypto blend.

Currently, the Financial Services Agency’s Cryptocurrency Working Group is reviewing the system, and its policy is expected to be included in the tax reform outline as early as December this year.
Following this major shift in the crypto landscape, investors and crypto enthusiasts are closely monitoring this filing as it is one of the major steps by the Japanese financial institution.
Why SBI Holdings’ XRP and Bitcoin ETF Filing Matters
You might be wondering why this filing matters to the overall crypto landscape. A well-followed crypto expert noted that SBI Holdings owns 9% of Ripple and has been a strategic partner since 2016. If approved, Japan could surpass the U.S. in launching the first regulated XRP ETF.
If Japan’s FSA approves these ETF filings, it will be another big milestone and turning point for the crypto industry after the United States’ Spot BTC and ETH ETF approval.
Following these approvals, XRP will finally be recognized as a regulated investment asset that boosts the confidence of traditional investors and crypto enthusiasts. Additionally, this could pave the way for XRP to reach a new all-time high.
However, spot XRP ETFs are already approved and publicly traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange, Canada. But it is yet to be approved by the United States and other major markets, which is expected to be approved in September or October 2025.
XRP Price and Its Technical Analysis
Following the announcement, XRP has shown an impressive recovery, surging from $2.9072 to $3.01 over the past 24 hours. At press time, the asset stands at $2.98, marking a 2.10% gain during the same period.

However, investor and trader participation remains lower compared to the previous day. According to CoinMarketCap data, XRP’s 24-hour trading volume has dropped by 20%.
This price surge has led the asset to retest its recent breakout level successfully. According to expert technical analysis, XRP recently broke out of a descending trendline, and with today’s recovery, it has confirmed the breakout with a successful retest.

Based on the price action, if the XRP price sustains the key level of $2.90. There is a strong possibility that the asset could soar by 10% and surpass the $3.30 mark in the future.
This bullish outlook is further supported by the technical indicator Supertrend. Which has turned green and fallen below the XRP price. This suggests that the asset is in an uptrend, with bullish sentiment dominating and strong buying pressure present.
