Bitcoin price pushed higher on Aug. 11, trading above $121,000 during the U.S. session as traders closed in on a cluster of short positions worth $14 billion. The level in focus was $125,000, where CoinGlass data showed the largest single liquidation point in months. Crypto Rover, who shared the chart on X, called it one of the biggest bear traps in recent market memory.

Price action stayed firm through the afternoon. Bitcoin reached $122,155 at its peak before slipping back toward $121,788. The 2.08 percent daily gain built on a rebound from the $116,000 area earlier in the week. Spot exchange activity ticked higher, showing real participation ahead of the key resistance.

Bitcoin Price Heavy Liquidations Sitting Above $124K

CoinGlass heatmaps revealed dense short positions stacked just above $124,000. The heaviest zone sat directly at $125,000, matching the 0.5 Fibonacci extension on the daily chart from the recent swing low, according to TradingView data.

Above that, the 0.618 extension at $127,367 marked the next upside technical checkpoint. Traders watching those levels said a clean break could snowball into a fast run as stops triggered.

Daily RSI printed at 65.97. That showed strong momentum without tipping into overbought territory, leaving room for a push before sellers typically stepped in.

Bitcoin Network Growth Hit a Yearly High

Ali Martinez of Glassnode pointed to an on-chain milestone. The Bitcoin network saw 364,126 new addresses created daily, the largest reading in more than a year. Martinez said on X that such growth often preceded price rallies, reflecting fresh capital or user activity entering the market.

Whale behavior in stablecoins offered a second data point. Large USDT transfers on TRON above $10 million have historically signaled profit-taking. July 16 and 23 both showed spikes above $5 billion, and Bitcoin fell within two days each time. In recent sessions, those mega whale transactions disappeared from the feed, hinting that big players were not shifting into stablecoins.

Bitcoin Price Support Zone Set at $112K

Martinez also highlighted $112,000 as a major base. That level marked the center of July’s consolidation and a key demand zone when Bitcoin broke higher in late July.

If the price fails to hold that floor, the next support will be nearly $105,000. That area coincided with a neckline from an ascending triangle pattern that resolved upward earlier in the summer.

Open interest in Bitcoin futures rose with price, Coinalyze data showed. Funding rates stayed close to neutral, suggesting the rally was not purely driven by overextended longs.

Market Readied for $125K Test

Traders braced for movement once the price touched the $125,000 mark. A clean break could set off a chain of short liquidations, quickly pushing toward $127,000. A hard rejection could see the market slip back toward the $119,000–$118,000 range.

Macro factors tilted in favor of risk assets. The U.S. dollar index eased after weaker economic data, lifting sentiment across equities and crypto. That shift added fuel to Bitcoin’s push.

The setup drew active discussion on X. Some traders called it a “time bomb” for shorts. Others warned that quick reversals were possible if the move became crowded.

Bullish Bias With Event Risk Ahead

Rising network participation, a lack of large-scale stablecoin exits, and constructive technical levels pointed to a bullish bias. Still, analysts flagged that liquidity changes or unexpected macro news could alter the setup quickly.

Bitcoin price hovered close enough to the liquidation cluster that one sharp move could reset positioning across derivatives markets. Martinez repeated that holding $112,000 kept the bullish case alive. The next decisive moment would show whether bulls had the strength to clear $125,000 and trigger one of the largest short squeezes in recent crypto trading history.
