Key Insights:
- Whales bought 500,000 ETH, driving prices beyond long-standing highs.
- Ethereum ETFs saw record inflows, surpassing Bitcoin funds in demand.
- Corporate treasuries and regulatory clarity strengthened Ethereum’s breakout momentum.
The Ethereum price has risen above $4,900over the weekend, reaching a new all-time high. This is almost 4 years after being unable to improve upon its previous maximum. The Ethereum price touched the highest point of $4,945 on Sunday, as per CoinGecko stats.
This breakout has taken place following a phenomenal rise in big investors. This injection of institutional-scale investment capital has strengthened the Ethereum price breakout from its full descending wedge formation, propelling the price sharply higher.
Whale buying aligns with Ethereum price Wedge breakout
On-chain data show that accounts with a balance between 10,000 and 100,000 ETH bought around 500,000 tokens within a period of two days, one of the most aggressive accumulation waves since the middle of 2021.

The Ethereum data shows that the wallets started growing their balances in the middle of June with an amount of around 26.2 million ETH. Stats show that it reached almost 29.8 million ETH at the end of August. Meanwhile, the Ethereum price increased by more than 100% during the same time frame, from $2,200 to $4,700.
This consistent buy-up by whales seems to have given Ethereum the basis in attaining technical reversal. As the whale balances soared above 28 million ETH in late July, the Ethereum price pierced the $3,200 level, as the bull run began. Ethereum crossed over the $4,000 mark in early August, possessing more than 29 million ETH.
The last run up to the $4,945 was when whale balances approached the 30m ETH mark. This indicates a concentrated buying power that preceded the increased upward swing.
Whale accumulation lining up with price action is evidence that this breakout is not just the result of retail speculation. It could be anchored by prolonged capital inflow by deep-pocketed investors who have been strategizing well ahead of the rally.
Corporate treasuries accumulate billions in Ethereum
In addition to whale accumulation, Ethereum has been driven by the large demand in spot exchange-traded funds in the United States. Lately, more than $1 billion in single-day inflows has been recorded by these funds.
This is the highest inflow received since the funds were launched last year, when they topped Bitcoin ETFs.
Even publicly listed firms are also adding to the tightening supply of Ethereum. Data shows that companies like BitMine Immersion and SharpLink Gaming have amassed a huge cache of ETH in their treasuries to hit $7.2 billion and $3.54 billion, respectively, as of press time.
This adoption trend in corporates reflects earlier observations with Bitcoin, but it has grown to Ethereum as businesses diversify their crypto reserves.
The concentration by corporate entities, the purchase of whales and ETF additions led to a decrease of the supply of ETH on exchanges, which has strengthened the upward price trend.
Increased regulatory moves have also contributed to the Ethereum price rally. The SEC has published guidance clarifying that liquid staking offerings will not necessitate the agency’s regulation.
The move is a relief to liquid staking providers that have faced significant uncertainty over whether their offerings required such a regulation.
The legalization of the Genius Act has established a special background regulatory object. The act states that tablecoins, most of which are located on the Ethereum blockchain, should exist.
The legislation has improved the utility of Ethereum as a settlement layer by providing legal certainty around these dollar-pegged assets. The new regulatory framework and increasing institutional interest could increase Ethereum’s price slightly.
