Polkadot Price Eyes Big Moves As ‘Hard Pressure’ Vote Leads

Key Insights:

  • Polkadot price has formed a symmetrical triangle pattern.
  • The hard pressure side is winning the ongoing ecosystem vote.
  • Technical analysis shows that a big move is coming soon.

Polkadot price has formed a symmetrical triangle pattern on the daily chart. This indicates an eventual bullish or bearish breakout as a crucial network vote and upgrade advances. Polkadot crypto was trading at $3.80 on Tuesday, up 27% from its lowest point this year.

Polkadot Price Could Benefit as the Hard Cap Leads

Polkadot, a cryptocurrency that Gavin Wood, an Ethereum co-founder, started, has been under pressure in the past few years. It has plunged by over 93% from its all-time high and is now hovering near its all-time low.

One reason for this is that it is one of the most inflationary tokens in the crypto industry. It has an annual inflation of about 10%, with most tokens going to validators and stakers. This explains why its staking yield has jumped to 13%.

The challenge with this is that many stakers typically sell the DOT tokens, resulting in an increasing supply over time. This is in contrast with what other top cryptocurrencies do.

For example, Binance Coin burns tokens worth about $1 billion each quarter, targeting 100 million tokens in circulation. Tron uses its network fees to burn millions of tokens each day.

Therefore, the community is voting on a major proposal to change its tokenomics. They are voting on three proposals: hard, soft, and growth. The current voting numbers show that the hard pressure is leading by far.

This hard pressure will cap Polkadot’s supply to 2.1 billion tokens and reduce inflation aggressively. It could eventually move to nearly zero. Such a move will be positive for the Polkadot price as the inflation concerns will be a thing of the past.

The soft pressure vote would reduce inflation gradually and cap the supply at 3.14 billion. It will reduce the inflation to 13.4% every two years. On the other hand, the growth approach will focus on ecosystem growth. It will maintain the supply intact for now and then gradually reduce it.

Polkadot JAM Upgrade

The other major catalyst for the Polkadot crypto price is the changes to its network. This process has continued since the developers launched Polkadot 2.0 in 2024.

Polkadot 2.0 had three major parts, with three being implemented so far. Asynchronous backing made it much faster by reducing the block times from 12 seconds to 6 seconds. At the same time, agile core time replaced the slot auction model with an on-demand allocation model.

The developers have now launched Elastic Scaling on Kusama, meaning the launch will happen in the coming months. After this, the Polkadot price will be boosted by the upcoming Join-Accumulate Machine (JAM), which Wood proposed in 2024.

It will replace the Relay Chain with a more adaptable platform for developers to build decentralized applications. The ongoing ecosystem growth will also boost the Polkadot crypto price.

The success of popular apps like FIFA Rivals and Hydration evidenced it. Also, there are odds that the Securities and Exchange Commission will approve a spot DOT ETF later this year.

Polkadot Price Technical Analysis

The daily timeframe chart shows that the Polkadot price has remained in a consolidation phase this month. By joining key trendlines, the coin forms a symmetrical triangle pattern, whose two lines are nearing their confluence level.

This triangle signifies the token will have a strong or bearish breakout in the coming days. Oddly, it will have a bullish breakout because of the above catalysts.

Polkadot crypto is expected to surge toward the key resistance level of $5.374. This marks a 42% increase from its current value and matches its peak from May 10.

A drop below the triangle’s lower edge signals further downside. Polkadot price could fall toward the support level at $3.25. That was its lowest point back in June this year.
