Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet is set to hold its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of its shareholders on December 22 2025. The firm disclosed this on X while sharing notice of the meeting.
According to the notice, the Board of Directors also set October 24 as the Record date. This means shareholders wishing to have voting rights at the meeting must register before the end of the Record date.
Metaplanet Solidifies Bitcoin Position, Surpasses 2025 Target
Despite communicating the EGM date, Metaplanet stated that the agenda has not yet been set. This means that speculations about the decisions the company could make at the meeting remain open.
However, any decision will likely be focused on how it can accumulate more Bitcoin. The company has been laser-focused on acquiring Bitcoin, particularly over the past few months.
Between July and October, the company more than doubled its Bitcoin stack. It went from 13,350 BTC at the start of July to 30,823 BTC by October 1. This is due to a series of major acquisitions that occurred during that period.
Metaplanet has a long-term goal of owning 210,000 BTC by the end of 2027 and has doubled down on achieving that. It recently raised $1.4 billion through the issuance of new shares and approved the creation of a US subsidiary.

However, all its efforts have not fully translated into results for Metaplanet stock. The stock has declined substantially from its peak in June 2025, leading to its mNAV also dropping to 1.12.
Still, the CEO, Simon Gerovich, has defended the company’s performance, comparing it with Amazon. He noted that Metaplanet fundamentals are stronger than ever, even if the stocks do not reflect this, but expects that to change.
He wrote:
While some people criticized his comparison of Metaplanet with Amazon, Gerovich has doubled down. He claimed that Metaplanet’s total addressable market is a $100 trillion opportunity.
Bitcoin Back on Uptrend
Meanwhile, Bitcoin is once again rising, having gained more than 2% in the past 24 hours. The flagship asset is now valued at nearly $124,000, after initially declining to as low as $120,000 during a post-peak correction.
Experts believe that BTC still has more room to grow in this cycle. According to CryptoQuant analysts, the Bitcoin rally remains intact, as net realised profits continue to rise. However, it is still well below the levels associated with price tops.

General sentiments also remain very positive, with some analysts expecting bigger price movements. Crypto investment platform Alphractal noted that BTC has recently experienced its lowest 180-day volatility ever, which historically precedes sharp price movements.
