CZ Jokes Trump Is Satoshi After Pardon for Binance Crimes

Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, is the founder of Binance. He recently made a surprising comment that has reached the ears of the whole cryptocurrency world. The Binance founder made a joke about Donald Trump potentially being Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin.

A Joke After a Presidential Pardon

This comment came after Trump issued a presidential pardon for CZ. This pardon dropped all legal restrictions for charges pressed against him during the Biden Administration. Binance had been lobbying for this pardon for a couple of months.

After the pardon, CZ posted on social media. He said, “President Trump and Satoshi. Might be the same person.” The remark was clearly a joke, but it quickly went viral. Many people began discussing the idea, even though CZ did not mean it seriously.

There is no evidence to support this claim. CZ’s comment was meant to be humorous. It was a playful way to respond to Trump’s unexpected support.

Why CZ Was Convicted

CZ’s conviction stemmed from his inability to prevent illicit funds from flowing through Binance. This included illegally permitting transactions associated with terrorism, child exploitation, and drug trafficking. He also pleaded guilty to breaching U.S. anti-money laundering legislation.

As part of a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Binance agreed to pay $4.3 billion. CZ also stepped down from his position as CEO and, in 2024, served a four-month prison sentence.

Trump’s pardon erased CZ’s conviction and restored his civil rights. The White House stated that CZ was unfairly targeted by the Biden administration’s crackdown on crypto.

However, many, including crypto stakeholders and activists, regarded the pardon as a political favour contrary to the pardon’s true justifications.

Trump’s Changing Stance on Crypto

Donald Trump has recently shown more interest in cryptocurrency. His Presidential election campaign the previous year accepted crypto donations. He has also made positive comments about Bitcoin and other digital assets.

This marks a shift from his earlier views. In the past, Trump was sceptical of crypto. Now, he seems to be embracing it. Some believe this is a move to attract younger voters and tech-savvy supporters.

Trump’s pardon of CZ is seen as part of this new approach. It suggests he may support a more relaxed stance on crypto regulation. This has made him more popular among some crypto enthusiasts.

The Mystery of Satoshi Nakamoto

Satoshi Nakamoto is the name used by the unknown person or group who created Bitcoin in 2008. Despite many theories, no one knows who Satoshi really is. Some believe it was a single person. Others think it was a team.

Over the years, many names have been suggested. These include computer scientists, cryptographers, and entrepreneurs. But none of these claims have been proven.

CZ’s joke added Trump to the list, but it was never a serious theory. It was just a playful comment that sparked curiosity.
