Crypto ETFs Update: Bitcoin ETFs Add $227M, Log 5th Consecutive Day of Inflows

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $226.92 million in net inflows on July 20, extending their positive-flow streak to five consecutive trading sessions. The result was the category’s strongest daily total during the streak.

Crypto ETFs holding Ethereum added another $38.09 million on the same day. Cumulative net inflows across the Bitcoin funds have climbed to $51.58 billion since launch, with total net assets of $79.16 billion.

Crypto ETFs Stretch the Bitcoin Streak to Five Sessions

The run started on July 14 and has held together through some fairly thin trading days. The daily numbers: $181.08 million on July 14, $107.80 million on July 15, $79.15 million on July 16, $132.30 million on July 17, and $226.92 million on July 20. That adds up to $727.25 million over five sessions.

What stands out is the size of Monday’s number relative to trading activity. Total value traded across the Bitcoin funds came in at $1.74 billion on July 20, below the $2.43 billion posted on July 17, yet net inflows nearly doubled. Buyers were doing more of the volume rather than sellers.

The streak also follows a rough patch. July 13 saw $424.66 million walk out the door in a single day, the worst reading of the month so far. Since then the flows have been positive every session.

Where the Money Went on July 20

BlackRock’s IBIT took the biggest share at $116.48 million, or roughly 1,790 BTC. Its cumulative net inflow now sits at $60.61 billion, which is more than the entire category’s $51.58 billion once Grayscale’s redemptions are netted out.

Ark & 21Shares’ ARKB had an unusually strong day at $72.74 million, its cumulative total reaching $1.32 billion. Grayscale’s lower-fee Bitcoin Trust ETF (BTC) added $41.45 million and Fidelity’s FBTC took in $24.07 million. Bitwise’s BITB picked up $8.83 million, Morgan Stanley’s MSBT $6.90 million, and VanEck’s HODL $1.84 million.

GBTC was the lone outlier with $45.40 million in redemptions, or about 698 BTC. Its lifetime outflow now stands at $27.38 billion. The remaining funds from Valkyrie, Franklin, Invesco, WisdomTree, and Hashdex all reported zero flows for the day.

Premiums stayed tight across the board. Most funds traded within 0.10% of net asset value, with Morgan Stanley’s MSBT at the wide end at +0.13% and Hashdex’s DEFI the only discount at -0.03%.

Ethereum Crypto ETFs Post Back-to-Back Gains

Spot Ethereum funds added $38.09 million on July 20 after $36.73 million on July 17. The two sessions bracket a $28.04 million outflow on July 16, so the recovery here is shorter and shakier than Bitcoin’s.

Cumulative net inflows for the Ethereum products have reached $11.12 billion, with total net assets of $10.29 billion. Trading volume was $593.30 million on July 20, up from $431.21 million on July 16 but still a fraction of what the Bitcoin funds handle on a quiet day.

July has been kinder to Ethereum than June was. Nine of the fourteen trading days this month produced net inflows, and the three down days were all under $53 million. Compare that with June, which closed out with a $273.34 million weekly outflow in the week ending June 26.

The Weekly Picture Behind the Daily Numbers

Weekly data puts the current run in context. The week ending July 17 brought $75.67 million into Bitcoin funds. The week before that delivered $197.40 million.

Go back further and the picture flips: the week ending July 2 saw $526.64 million leave, and the week ending June 26 lost $1.79 billion, the heaviest weekly outflow of the summer.

Ethereum followed a similar path. Weekly inflows of $105.44 million and $84.42 million in the two most recent full weeks came after four straight negative weeks in June, including a $273.34 million drawdown.

Cumulative net inflow for the Bitcoin category peaked near $53.94 billion in early June and has since settled at $51.58 billion, so the current streak is still working through ground lost earlier in the summer. Ethereum’s cumulative figure has been flat around $11 billion for two months.

The July 20 session extended the recovery in U.S. spot crypto ETF flows, with Bitcoin products accounting for most of the new capital. However, the five-day Bitcoin inflow total remained small relative to the withdrawals recorded earlier in the summer. Further positive weeks would be needed before the flow pattern indicated a sustained institutional re-entry.
