- Santiment reports crypto markets show resilience despite the Fed’s decision to pause rate cuts.
- Powell states banks can serve crypto clients, but some interpret it as a subtle discouragement.
- Analysts predict Bitcoin‘s next major hurdle, with expectations of both short-term dips and gains.
Bitcoin and the broader crypto market remained largely unaffected following the Federal Reserve’s recent decision to maintain interest rates at their current level.
Financial markets had widely anticipated the Fed’s move, which led to a moderate uptick in crypto valuations.
Bitcoin (BTC) saw a 2.5% increase over 24 hours, reaching $105,187. Ethereum (ETH) rose by 2.4% to $3,210, while Solana (SOL) gained 3.3% to hit $239.
The total cryptocurrency market capitalization climbed by 1.2% to $3.71 Trillion, as per CoinGecko data.
Crypto Market’s Reaction to the Fed’s Decision
The Federal Reserve’s decision to pause rate cuts comes amid evolving investor sentiment regarding the impact of monetary policy on digital assets.
Historically, aggressive rate reductions in 2020 spurred bullish trends, while rate hikes in 2022 led to downturns. However, the crypto market’s sensitivity to these shifts appears to be diminishing.
Market intelligence platform Santiment noted that cryptocurrencies have remained stable despite Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s latest policy announcement.

Over the past five years, there has been a strong correlation between U.S. interest rate adjustments and crypto price movements.
Rate cuts have generally been associated with bullish trends, while rate hikes have coincided with downturns. However, recent trends suggest a potential decoupling of digital assets from broader financial markets.
Santiment pointed out that previous bull cycles in the crypto space have often occurred independently of stock market trends. For the past three years, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have exhibited strong correlations with traditional equities.
The current market resilience indicates that the digital asset sector may be evolving beyond its earlier characterization as a high-risk, leveraged technology investment.
Powell’s Stance on Banks Serving Crypto Clients
Notably, during the policy statement, Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell commented on the banking sector’s ability to provide services to cryptocurrency firms.
While Powell stated that banks could freely engage with crypto-related businesses, some industry observers interpreted his remarks as less encouraging.
FOX Business journalist Eleanor Terrett highlighted concerns from a source at a major bank who viewed Powell’s statement as subtly discouraging financial institutions from supporting crypto clients.

This interpretation suggests that while there is no explicit prohibition, regulatory pressures may still deter banking institutions from fully embracing cryptocurrency-related services.
Despite Powell’s neutral stance, the banking sector has faced increasing regulatory scrutiny regarding its involvement with digital assets.
Many financial institutions remain hesitant due to perceived regulatory uncertainty, even as some banks express interest in expanding their crypto-related offerings.
Market Predictions and Analyst Outlooks
The recent stability in crypto prices has prompted analysts to project potential price movements for Bitcoin.
Market expert Jelle suggested that Bitcoin’s next major resistance level is $110,000. If this threshold is breached, the cryptocurrency may enter a new phase of price discovery.
Meanwhile, former BitMEX CEO Arthur Hayes presented a broader market outlook in his latest essay titled ‘The Ugly.’ Hayes remains bullish on Bitcoin’s long-term trajectory, maintaining a $250,000 price target.
However, he acknowledged recent concerns, including macroeconomic factors such as banking credit expansion, central bank policies, and the interrelation between Bitcoin, equities, and the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield.
Hayes drew comparisons between current market conditions and the 2021 crypto downturn. While he remains optimistic about the ongoing bull cycle, he anticipates a short-term correction, projecting a potential Bitcoin price dip to the $70,000–$75,000 range.
Despite this potential pullback, he asserts that Bitcoin’s long-term trajectory remains strong, forecasting a significant price increase by year-end.
