Almost 6 months ago, I started using GoMining. This was a long-term project to see if it’s possible to mine Bitcoin digitally, and now it’s time to share my experience. To clarify, I’ve had experience with crypto prior to this endeavor but never held or mined Bitcoin before. Still, the most popular and fast-growing cryptocurrency has always been interesting, even though it appears that as the price goes up, mining becomes more and more complicated.
That’s why I looked for options that didn’t require large investments. One of these methods is mining with digital miners, and I want to talk about it in detail.
What is GoMining?
Simply put, GoMining is remote Bitcoin mining. The principle is somewhat similar to cloud mining, but there are still fundamental differences.
Unlike cloud mining services, GoMining doesn’t let you rent the mining equipment. Instead, you buy an NFT miner that enables you to own hash power with attached energy efficiency. All of that is recorded within the NFT. Since you own the digital miner, you can use it for as long as you want. There are also no extra fees except for maintenance and electricity, but I’ll circle back to them later.
GoMining has its own data centers where the mining takes place. These centers are essentially what the miners connect to, and as a miner owner, you get and use a portion of the power of these data centers. The more powerful your NFT is — the more Bitcoin it mines.
It’s all advertised as a process that requires minimum involvement and doesn’t need large investments. This is exactly what attracted my interest.
The deciding factor is always the opportunity to try it out for a small sum. If you don’t like it, you aren’t losing thousands of dollars; a miner can just keep on mining.
I did try, and it wasn’t disappointing.
Spendings, Bonuses, and Discounts
I already mentioned that the app has fees. Well, those fees aren’t paid as much as deducted from your BTC rewards. Also, if you want all your BTCs intact, you can start paying for the services with the GOMINING token. It’s a native token of the platform, and I haven’t found much use for it other than within the ecosystem. Not only can you get a discount of up to 20% (depending on your farm level), but you can also get votes and participate in the governing of GoMining.
Another service discount is for users who open the app daily and press the ‘service’ button. The discount accumulates from 0.3% to 3% in 10 days. But if you miss a day, it rolls back to 0.3%. In 6 months, I reactivated the discount 2 or 3 times, but it is simple.
There is a referral program, and I know many people find it pretty interesting. You invite friends or post your referral link under a review to get discounts and rewards.
If you follow the news and keep up with the updates, you can come across interesting offers from the company. They often give away GOMINING tokens, discounts, Avatars, and even miners from limited collections. As far as I understand, you have to have an ID in the system, but you don’t have to own any miners to get one as a reward or prize.
There are no regularfees in GoMining and no unexpected payments, which was a really pleasant surprise. And you only pay for the miner once.
How Does a Farm Work?
In the GoMining ecosystem, a farm is the user’s collection of digital miners. So, my farm is all the miners I’ve collected from day one to this point. The first miner is usually the Bonus Miner, which every user gets for free for five days. After that, it can be prolonged if you complete a series of tasks in the app.
The characteristics of this Bonus Miner are minimal. It is pretty much a demonstration of the way the platform works. If you start now, after 5 days, you get approximately 0.00002367 BTC. (around $2.3).
One of the tasks that allow you to keep the Bonus Miner for 5 more days is creating a new miner. Thus, you get another five days if you upgrade it.
Importance of Upgrades
Upgrades aren’t a necessary thing, but they can be essential if you want to earn more. What they do is they raise the power of the miner, so the rewards grow accordingly.
I started upgrading after about a month of using the platform. I made a point out of not rushing into anything before I really understood the ins and outs of the system.
During this time, I have tested both solo mining and the Miner Wars game (albeit briefly).
The game is a clan-based competition where the clan that adds a block to the Bitcoin blockchain wins. It’s mostly self-explanatory, but there are additional boosts that help you win – Avatars. I initially got interested in them because of the way they looked (sci-fi characters with a backstory), and I thought those were some cool NFTs. Turned out they helped get discounts and some boosts for the game. Avatars can be bought, received as a gift, or won in raffles.
Solo Mining
In solo mining, though, running a farm is very easy: you get a miner, upgrade it if needed, and once a day, you visit the app to check the updates. View the rewards, and press the service button (I’ll cover this part later).
Everything you need to do with the farm, you can do from your phone: add or sell miners, upgrade them, etc. There are no time limits for any of those actions.
I still have not tried using the GoMining marketplace, but I know that people sell and buy used miners there. So if you decide to stop, you can still get your money back.
My Opinion After 6 Months
I figured 6 months would be a good time frame to understand if I want to continue mining this way. I’m going to state in advance that GoMining is good for those who are serious about their mining. A cheap miner can pay for itself in about a year, and after that, you will get small sums each month. It’s fun but not really lucrative.
So, if you want to earn, you have to invest in upgrading your farm. This is where you need a tactic and a goal. Either to earn a whole BTC or to upgrade your miner and sell it.
My farm consists of four miners now. They all differ in power. All my miners are created by me; I never bought or sold them.
I mostly stick to solo mining, but I intend to give Miner Wars another try when my farm is a little more powerful. Now, that would be my goal for the next 6 months.
Results: Is It Real or a Scam?
The truth is that you can really make money in this project if you set clear goals. I have to repeat this again, but it matters that you approach this consciously and cautiously. Don’t just think that creating a miner can solve all the problems and give you a BTC in the first week. Like everywhere else, you have to be smart about what you’re doing. The project is obviously still growing, which is good as it runs promo campaigns and has interesting offers.
It’s not an idle mining operation; you have to visit the app and follow the news.
That’s probably my best advice to those who want to try it. I think of it this way: the less I invest, the more I earn, so I follow all the possible discounts.
