Analyst Says Massive Altseason Could Come Now And Last 2 Years

Key Insights:

  • Analyst Tardigrade forecasts a potential altseason from 2025 to 2027.
  • Bitcoin dominance cycles show patterns of peak dominance.
  • BTC market share has been surging as dominance has trended upwards.

The crypto market is seeing a shift in its traditional cycles, as the concept of “Altseason”—when altcoins outperform Bitcoin—appears to be evolving. Historically, altcoins would rally alongside Bitcoin’s price surge during bull markets.

However, recent trends indicate a divergence, with Bitcoin reaching new all-time highs, but many leading altcoins struggling to surpass their previous cycle highs. Despite this, analysts continue to predict the possibility of a significant altseason soon.

The Bull Market of 2016-2018 and the Altseason

The period from 2016 to 2018 witnessed one of the most notable Altseasons. During this time, the market capitalization of altcoins, tracked by the Total 2 metric (which excludes Bitcoin) in Trader Tardigrades analysis, experienced a significant rise.

This trend was especially apparent in late 2017 and early 2018, with major altcoins like Ethereum, Ripple, and Litecoin leading the charge. By 2017, the Total 2 market cap had surged past $300 billion, marking a peak in altcoin adoption and a notable market rally.

Trader Tardigrade suggests that the crypto market could be entering another altseason, which may last from 2025 to 2027. According to Tardigrade’s analysis, a “cup and handle” pattern is forming on the Total 2 chart.

This pattern typically signals an impending price breakout, indicating that a strong altcoin rally could be on the horizon. If this pattern plays out, the market capitalization of altcoins could surpass previous highs, potentially reaching levels above $550 trillion.

Bitcoin Dominance and the Cycles of Market Behavior

Master of Crypto, another analyst, highlights Bitcoin’s dominance over altcoins as a key factor in understanding Altseason.

Historically, Bitcoin dominance has followed a cyclical pattern, with peak dominance levels observed around 2017, 2021, and potentially in 2025. These cycles typically last around 1221 days, or approximately 3.34 years.

During these cycles, Bitcoin dominance has reached about 70%, which has often been followed by a sharp decline in Bitcoin dominance, signaling a shift towards altcoins. Master of Crypto predicts that Bitcoin dominance may rise to 70% in 2025, after which altcoins will follow Bitcoin’s rally.

Resistance Levels and Market Shifts

Rekt Capital, another prominent analyst, has shared insights into Bitcoin dominance using technical charts. In its latest analysis, Rekt Capital points that BTC has frequently failed to overcome the 71% dominance mark.

It was observed that whenever Bitcoin dominance reaches the level, it experiences rejection.

The analyst also highlights dominance to be rising from 2023 to 2025 suggesting that Bitcoin market share has been increasing. If such trendline does not hold, it may lead to a reversal and the market may enter Altseason.
