Key Insights:
- Ethereum whale sells 7,974 ETH, signaling possible profit-taking.
- Active addresses on Ethereum decreased, reflecting lower network activity.
- U.S. inflation drop and potential rate cuts could impact crypto market sentiment.
Ethereum’s market is experiencing increased selling pressure as an Ethereum whale has started offloading its holdings. This whale had remained dormant for three years before this sell-off.
The decision to sell 7,974 ETH at $1,479 could signal a broader shift in market sentiment. It can also highlight a potential for further volatility.
Ethereum Whale Capitalizes on Significant Profits
According to market analyst Lookonchain, an Ethereum whale had sold 7,974 ETH. This amounted to $11.8 Million at $1,479 per coin.
This sale followed three years of dormancy. During this time, the whale accumulated the ETH when prices were significantly lower.
As the price approaches current levels, the whale seizes the opportunity. They capitalize on the profit from this long-term investment.

Market whales keep offloading their assets instead of holding them, indicating potential market vulnerability. This behavior suggests a price dip might occur soon.
Market Sentiment Shifts as Active Addresses Decline
In addition, a significant decline in the active addresses of ETH also co-occurred with the whale-selling activity. As per data, active addresses on the Ethereum network drop indicated lower user engagement and network activity.
Such a development reflected a temporary blast but also showed a trend in sentiment. Activity may decrease. This correlates with lower trading volumes, often preceding market stagnation or price drops.

Ethereum also faced a decrease in transaction count, dropping by 40.5% in the number of transactions. Users have turned to other Layer 1 blockchains like Solana and Avalanche due to their speed and lower transaction fees.
This shift was further influenced by Ethereum whale activity, as their selling behavior impacts market trends. With user engagement continuing to decline, ETH price may face downward pressure. Competitors like Solana and Avalanche are gaining traction, further intensifying market competition.
Ethereum Technical Analysis
Looking at the Ethereum trading chart, ETH was trading at $1,523.56 at press time, experiencing a decline of 8.56% within the last 24 hours. The price started at a higher point, around $1,661.
However, it has steadily decreased throughout the day, reflecting the bearish momentum. The chart showed a steady downtrend, indicating that selling pressure dominated the market.

The trading volume in the last 24 hours was $21.57 Billion, down by 44.03%. Such a reduction in trading volumes implied that the market was also experiencing a decline in trading activities.
This could mean that traders do not have any buying interest or are waiting for confirmation of further price action. Ethereum’s market cap has also declined to $183.86 Billion.
Furthermore, its open interest has declined by 2.26% over the past day, indicating a downsizing of the market participation. There is evidence of traders taking profits and closing positions, as shown by the decrease in perpetual contracts of –2.43 %.
Futures contracts have observed a 1.11% increase in upticks. This indicated a growing interest among traders in taking longer positions.
This demonstrated how traders and Ethereum whales prepare for possible price swings linked to events or macroeconomic advancements.
U.S. Inflation Drops and Rate Cuts Expected
Looking more broadly at the U.S. macro economy, inflation has dropped sharply. Many analysts are now talking about potential interest rate cuts.
With inflation coming down, rate cuts are a possibility that generally benefits risk assets, including cryptocurrencies. This could result in increased liquidity in the market due to cheaper borrowing rates.

If the Federal Reserve’s actions align with significant economic stability, it could renew investor interest in ETH and other cryptocurrencies. This stability might encourage broader adoption and market confidence.
With the U.S. headed towards lower inflation and potential rate cuts, liquidity could flood back into the crypto market.
