Key Insights:
- XRP traded near $2.30 support, as a head and shoulders pattern signals the risk of a drop.
- U.S. credit downgrade weakens the dollar, boosting the appeal of crypto as a hedge asset.
- Ripple eyed Circle acquisition, but Coinbase leads with stronger ties and cash reserves.
After recent market developments, Ripple’s XRP token is trading near a critical support level of $2.30. Analyst Ali_charts posted a chart showing a classic head and shoulders pattern forming on the hourly chart.
The bearish pattern will no longer apply if the token stays above $2.30. This could signal a trend reversal and upward movement. However, a break below this zone could lead to more selling pressure.

Meanwhile, Ripple has secured new partnerships in the UAE after the approval of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). With this license, XRP can now offer blockchain-based cross-border payment solutions to regional institutions.
Mamo and Zand Bank are the first to integrate Ripple’s payment infrastructure, allowing faster and more efficient fund transfers.
Mamo will also help local businesses with quicker and more reliable cross-border transactions. On the other hand, Zand Bank will launch an AED-backed stablecoin.
The UAE’s clear regulations are driving demand for efficient settlement solutions. Ripple’s Reece Merrick highlights its role in one of the world’s busiest payment corridors.
Market Volatility Following Moody’s U.S. Credit Downgrade – XRP Role as a Hedge
Moody’s downgrading the U.S. credit rating to AA1 from AAA has pushed the U.S. Dollar Index to 100.85. The agency attributed the downgrade to the growing federal budget deficit and rising interest costs. The move has caused volatility across global markets and investor sentiment.
Commodities and digital assets often benefit from a weaker dollar, making them cheaper than the dollar. For instance, gold rose 0.4% after the announcement.
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies like XRP can serve as an alternative store of value. They are instrumental during times of currency risk.

Meanwhile, 10-year U.S. Treasury yields have increased as investors demand higher returns to compensate for greater fiscal risk. The mixed market reaction has caused uncertainty in equities and credit markets.
Some traders move into safer assets while others see opportunity in high-risk, high-reward sectors such as crypto. The broad risk-off environment could support Bitcoin’s ‘digital gold’ narrative. Investors see BTC and XRP as a hedge against ongoing currency and inflation uncertainty.
Coinbase vs. XRP: The Battle for Circle’s Acquisition
Separately, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin is a potential acquisition target. Coinbase is the most likely buyer, given it has commercial ties to Circle. In 2018, the two firms co-founded Centre Consortium and still share USDC reserve revenue.
According to Fortune, a banker said, “If Coinbase wanted to buy them, Circle would sell in a heartbeat.” It was also declined, and Ripple made a bid between $4 billion and $5 billion.
Coinbase has $8 Billion in cash. It also allows the company to access the public market to raise capital. Circle’s IPO plans will not affect its existing partnership with Coinbase. However, it could create opportunities for future collaborations, according to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong.
Coinbase is expanding its M&A strategy, and this comes as no surprise. The firm has recently acquired Deribit and Spindle and is seemingly looking to grow through strategic buys.
While Circle may still pursue a public listing, the private sale option is still open. Circle may interest Ripple as part of its broader push into stablecoins and payment infrastructure.
With over $100 Billion of XRP reserves (including escrowed tokens), it could easily fund large acquisitions. However, Coinbase is a stronger contender due to its financial strength and existing ties.
