Highlights:
- CZ rejects WSJ report linking him to World Liberty’s foreign activities
- Zhao denies past media claims on Binance.US stake sale and pardon talks
- BNB Chain leads DEX volume charts with over $43B in weekly trading
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the former CEO of Binance, has publicly denied claims made in a recent Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report.
The article alleged Zhao played a behind-the-scenes role in arranging meetings for World Liberty Financial (WLF) during the firm’s international travels, naming countries such as Pakistan, Malaysia, and Kyrgyzstan.
WSJ wrote, “Helping facilitate some introductions for World Liberty’s foreign travels is Changpeng Zhao, founder of the crypto exchange Binance.”
Zhao responded on X (formerly Twitter), stating clearly:
“I am not a fixer for anyone. I did NOT ‘connect Mr. Saqib with the WLF team.’”
He said he had only met Mr. Saqib for the first time in Pakistan and that any connection between Mr. Saqib and WLF existed before his involvement.
“They had known each other way back, whereas I only met with Mr. Saqib for the first time in Pakistan.”
Zhao criticized the tone and structure of WSJ’s questions, saying they were based on wrong assumptions and negative intent. He claimed the publication was not seeking facts but building a false narrative.
“A few days ago, WSJ asked me (through the PR team) a long list of questions with wrong and negative assumptions. We told them there are ‘numerous inaccuracies and unfounded inferences.’”
He also said that when a story is built around a false premise, it becomes impossible to correct the errors.
“If you get a couple of factual errors wrong, it’s possible to fix. When you make up a story with negative intentions to begin with, there is no way to fix the ‘inaccuracies.’ It’s the entire story.”
Zhao also accused WSJ of practicing what is known as “Cunningham’s Law”—the idea that posting incorrect information can force the right answer out of people.
“This is NOT how journalism should work.” He stated
Past Media Reports Questioned by Zhao
This is not the first time Zhao has challenged media narratives. Earlier this year, WSJ published a story claiming he discussed selling a stake in Binance.US to associates of Donald Trump’s family.
Zhao denied this, stating he had “no discussions of a Binance US deal with anyone.” He also dismissed rumors that he sought a presidential pardon as part of a strategic outreach to Trump-aligned figures.
In another WSJ article, anonymous sources alleged Zhao testified against Tron founder Justin Sun to reduce his own prison sentence.
Zhao rejected the report, noting, “People who become government witnesses don’t go to prison.” He further hinted that these articles might be part of a broader anti-crypto agenda from elements in the US.
BNB Chain Records $43 Billion Weekly Volume as It Leads DEX Charts
While Zhao addresses these allegations, the BNB Chain has reached a significant achievement in the blockchain space.
As of writing, it is the top DEX by trading volume. Data from DefiLlama shows that BNB Chain’s DEX volume for the week was $43.282 billion, up 115% from the previous week.

More than any other chain, the network’s daily trading volume is $11.82 billion. Meanwhile, Solana had $22.625 billion in the week, but it decreased by 18.93%. Ethereum’s total was $16.069 billion which is also down by 12.42%.
The increase in gas fees is caused by more people using the network and providing liquidity which means more DeFi applications and transactions are being processed.
BNB Price Pulls Back After Rally, More Drop Ahead?
The rise in interest is backed up by the trading chart of BNB. The price of the token reached $672 recently, but the climb is now slowing down. The chart now displays a “double top” pattern which many traders interpret as a sign that the market is likely to fall.

The RSI, which measures the speed of the market, has fallen from a recent high of over 65 to 52.03, which indicates that buying strength is decreasing.
Analysts are focusing on the next main support areas at $640 and $600. If the price falls below these levels, the token could move towards $577, which is the next important zone.
Although there was a short-term fall, the network’s solid DEX volume gives BNB a good base for future development. More transactions may help the token price to either level out or increase.
