U.S. Vice President JD Vance recently addressed Bitcoin’s core value proposition, describing it as both a means of payment and a store of value. His remarks came during an exclusive interview on Newsmax’s Greg Kelly Reports, following his keynote speech at the Bitcoin Conference 2025.

Vance also highlighted President Donald Trump’s recent achievements in advancing the cryptocurrency sector.
Explaining the Payment and Store of Value Functions of Bitcoin
In his interview, Vance opened by clarifying Bitcoin’s role beyond speculation. He described Bitcoin as a digital asset capable of functioning similarly to traditional forms of payment like dollar bills and gold.
Vance pointed out that Bitcoin allows individuals to buy and sell goods securely, with less risk of fraud compared to physical currency. This digital payment capability forms one half of Bitcoin’s value proposition.
In addition, Vance emphasized Bitcoin’s utility as a modern store of value. He suggested that Bitcoin provides users with a way to preserve wealth in the digital age. While affirming his own Bitcoin holdings, he stated his current position requires him to be cautious when discussing the asset publicly.
Despite acknowledging Bitcoin’s potential, Vance also recognized the risks tied to emerging technologies. Nevertheless, he contrasted this with the Trump administration’s regulatory approach, which favors innovation over strict market restrictions.
Vance argued against authoritarian interventions that could hinder crypto innovation. Instead, he called for reasonable, transparent regulations to integrate cryptocurrency businesses into the mainstream economy.
Policy Shift Under President Trump and Industry Support
Vance’s statements illustrate a significant shift in U.S. cryptocurrency policy since President Donald Trump began his second term in January 2025. The administration has introduced multiple pro-crypto initiatives, including a directive to establish a government reserve holding Bitcoin and various altcoins.
Eric Trump, the president’s son, has actively encouraged investors to enter the Bitcoin market. During the Bitcoin Conference’s second day on May 27, a panel discussion moderated by Aaron Arnold of the Altcoin Daily Show addressed concerns about Bitcoin’s high price.
Many potential investors worry that fractional Bitcoin purchases may offer limited benefits as the full coin price has exceeded six figures. Responding to these concerns, Donald Trump Jr. stressed the importance of participation regardless of investment size.
He pointed out that owning even a small fraction of Bitcoin often leads to greater engagement and understanding of the cryptocurrency market. He also said that people argue about Bitcoin’s cost but noted that the main thing is to take part.
Looking at Bitcoin History and Experts’ Predictions
Mister Crypto posted a comprehensive chart on X to outline Bitcoin’s changes in price over its history. Most of his analysis examined recurring structures like rounded bottoms and ascending triangles that happened before major bullish movements in 2013, 2017, and 2021.
In 2013, the price of a single Bitcoin was under $10, then went on to create a rounded bottom and an ascending triangle and eventually surge past $1,000. Two years later, in 2017, a period of holding steady ended with the price surging to almost $20,000.
2021 brought the same trend, but this time Bitcoin reached almost $70,000. According to Mister Crypto, Bitcoin’s current consolidation post-2021 mirrors these previous patterns.
He suggests that the market may be preparing for a breakout in 2025, potentially triggering another parabolic rally. His price target for this cycle reaches as high as $910,000, assuming historical trends continue.
This price analysis provides context for Vance’s comments on Bitcoin’s evolving role and the administration’s crypto-friendly policies.
The ongoing dialogue at the Bitcoin Conference, including insights from the Trump family and industry analysts, signals a growing mainstream acceptance. Moreover, it shows regulatory clarity for digital assets.
