Digital asset investment products recorded $1.04 billion in net inflows last week, marking the 12th consecutive week of positive capital movement, according to CoinShares. The surge lifted total assets under management (AUM) to a record $188 billion.
While Bitcoin investment vehicles accounted for the bulk of capital, Ethereum-based funds showed stronger relative performance, suggesting a shift in institutional sentiment.
Record AUM Driven by Sustained Institutional Demand
Digital asset funds have now recorded 12 consecutive weeks of inflows, with a cumulative $18 billion added since April. Last week alone contributed $1.04 billion, demonstrating sustained appetite from institutional players. Simultaneously, total AUM rose to $188 billion, supported by both inflows and price appreciation across crypto markets.

Trading volumes remained stable at $16.3 billion, in line with the 2025 average. This consistency shows that investor participation has remained strong, even as asset prices climbed. It also indicates that market activity is no longer driven by short-term volatility alone but by growing long-term conviction.
Last week, the United States remained the leading contributor with $1 billion in new inflows. This figure dwarfed inflows from Germany and Switzerland, which stood at $38.5 million and $33.7 million, respectively. However, Canada and Brazil recorded outflows of $29.3 million and $9.7 million, reflecting more cautious sentiment in those regions.
Bitcoin Inflows Slow as It Nears All-Time Highs
Bitcoin investment products pulled in $790 million during the week, continuing a positive trend for the fourth consecutive week. Still, this amount was lower than the previous three-week average of $1.5 billion. This drop suggests that investors may be turning more cautious as Bitcoin edges closer to its peak price levels.
Despite the slump, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs have seen net inflows of 14.5 billion so far this year. The assets managed by these ETFs totaled to $128 billion, of which the BlackRock IBIT alone had assets worth $73.6 billion. Last Thursday saw the largest single-day ETF trading volume since the month of May, coming in at 5.3 billion, and IBIT contributed 4.1 billion of that.
In less than two months since their introduction in January 2024, spot Bitcoin ETFs have amassed over $1 trillion in aggregate trading volume. This achievement represents the increased institutional confidence in Bitcoin by investing in regulated investment vehicles. Furthermore, ETFs have evidently proven to be the entry point to retail investors who want to gain exposure to cryptos without the risk of self-custody.
Ethereum Outperforms Bitcoin on a Relative Basis
Although Bitcoin received more capital inflow on an absolute basis, Ethereum registered greater inflows than its AUM. Funds based on Ethereum gained $226 million in the last week, the 11th week with inflows in a row. Ethereum inflows averaged 1.6% of AUM a week, compared to 0.8% with Bitcoin.
This performance implies institutional investors’ bias towards Ethereum, perhaps because of its wider utility. The increased conviction may be coming due to Ethereum in decentralized finance, tokenization, and stablecoins. With the enhanced regulatory clarity in the U.S., the use cases of ETH might result in additional capital allocations.
Multi-asset products, on the other hand, experienced small outflows, which indicates that investors wanted to focus on particular assets. In the meantime, Solana and XRP recorded less significant yet positive inflows, which indicates the selective accumulation of altcoins. This trend shows that capital rotation is becoming more fundamentally driven and driven by future utility.
ETF Filings Surge as Altcoin Season Looms
Wall Street is now flooding the SEC with crypto ETF proposals, with 54 active filings currently under review. The lineup includes single-asset ETFs for Solana, XRP, Litecoin, and Dogecoin, as well as several multi-asset and leveraged products. Firms like Bitwise, VanEck, Tuttle, and ProShares are aggressively expanding their ETF rosters.
Such an ETF boom may trigger an impending altcoin season, particularly should regulators approve a wider range of products. Ethereum and other high-profile altcoins enjoy bullish positioning as investors await decisions. As the drumbeat continues, ETF approvals can trigger a tidal wave of institutional interest in non-Bitcoin assets.
