Digital asset company Tether has announced a strategic investment in Crystal Intelligence, a blockchain analytics firm. The initiative was intended to strengthen the fight against illicit use of stablecoins using modern investigation and monitoring tools to control the risks.

Notably, the investment was announced on July 8, 2025, and was included in the wider compliance-oriented infrastructure plan of Tether. With concerns over crypto-related financial crimes growing, the company sought to strengthen its support to law enforcement agencies by improving its surveillance and analytics capabilities.
Boosting Blockchain Analytics to Counter Crypto Abuse
Crystal Intelligence is a blockchain intelligence platform that provides real-time services including fraud detection, regulatory analytics, and risk monitoring. The collaboration with Tether will allow the firm to enlarge its toolset and assist efforts of enforcement agencies in monitoring illicit financial activity using stablecoins.

The collaboration has also improved the creation of common platforms like Scam Alert (scam-alert.io). This is a community-shared list of blacklisted wallets that have been used in illicit activity. Regulators, law enforcement, and digital asset firms use the tool to curb fraudulent transactions in real time.
Tether’s Record of Global Enforcement Collaboration
Tether has also taken a leading role in supporting international law enforcement. The company has worked with over 255 agencies in 55 jurisdictions, including institutions like the U.S. Secret service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This partnership had frozen more than 2.7 billion USD worth of USD₮ with suspicious or illegitimate origins.
Notably, the 2024 FBI statistics revealed that the cryptocurrency losses due to scamming events in the United States were more than $9.3 billion, and this can be compared to a 66 percent rise in cryptocurrency losses in 2023. These figures underscore the urgency for stronger surveillance infrastructure, especially in the stablecoin sector.
With the investment in Crystal Intelligence, Tether seeks to improve its ability to trace and act upon illegal use cases. CEO Paolo Ardoino confirmed the intent to build more robust tools and streamline cooperation with global regulators.
He stated,
“This strategic investment will strengthen our capacity to collaborate more effectively and reinforce a clear message: USD₮ is the digital dollar for the people, bad actors will be stopped.”obal Enforcement Collaboration
Scam Alert and Future Strategy in Crypto Surveillance
Scam Alert, a tool co-developed by Tether and Crystal Intelligence, is central to the firms’ collaborative strategy. It is designed to provide instant, public-facing updates on crypto wallet addresses linked to scams and abusive transactions. By making these records visible in real-time, the platform adds a layer of transparency to digital asset flows.
According to Crystal Intelligence CEO Navin Gupta, the collaboration with Tether extends beyond investment. Gupta emphasized a commitment to proactive intelligence work, encouraging the crypto sector to adopt early detection strategies rather than reactive enforcement.
Besides, the investment is part of Tether’s larger trend in compliance and transparency of its operations. The company has also begun incorporating institutional-grade monitoring tools to facilitate the issuance and custody of institutional-grade tokenized real-world assets. These systems are meant to keep all the activities of digital assets traceable and within regulatory limits.
Building a Resilient Ecosystem
Tether’s strategic venture is part of a wider trend of market initiatives to develop secure digital finance infrastructure. The collaboration with Crystal Intelligence is supposed to enhance the ecosystem of digital assets by enhancing tracking, compliance, and law enforcement cooperation.
Moreover, the integrated system supports the shift to a safer digital economy. It allows stablecoins to be issued on surveillance-enabled platforms that limit criminal use.
