Ethereum ETFs recorded $2.85B in weekly inflows, their highest to date. Institutional demand, whale accumulation, and rising network usage placed ETH at the center of the latest market rally.
Ethereum ETFs Post Record Inflows
Ethereum exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded their largest-ever weekly inflows, attracting $2.85 billion, according to data shared on Aug. 15. The surge highlighted accelerating institutional demand for Ethereum, coinciding with a broader increase in spot ETF trading volumes.
Henry (@LordOfAlts) noted that Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF volumes hit $40 billion as Ethereum touched key support levels while Bitcoin tested resistance. He described the setup as favorable for entries, with the market approaching a potential breakout.
“Once we break resistance and support, our GEM will send so hard,” he wrote, pointing to the prospect of a major rally if conditions hold.
BlackRock Deepens Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs Exposure
Institutional flows have driven much of the momentum. Mario Nawfal’s Roundtable data showed that BlackRock purchased 4,428 Bitcoin worth about $205 million and added 114,069 Ethereum worth $630 million. Its holdings stood at 748,968 BTC and 3.49 million ETH, confirming sustained conviction.

That activity came alongside broader ETF inflows. On Aug. 15 alone, Ethereum ETFs attracted 138,232 ETH, worth about $630 million, according to the update. The scale of purchases placed Ethereum firmly in focus after weeks of institutional rotation between assets.
Ethereum Rallies Toward $4,400
Market data confirmed the shift in sentiment. CryptoTeca reported that Ethereum traded at $4,400, up nearly 60% in August. The rally coincided with $2.3 billion in ETF inflows within six days, including a single $1 billion day.

The analyst noted Ethereum’s deepening role in stablecoin settlement. The network cleared more than $4 trillion in stablecoin transfers last quarter, representing half of global volume. “That’s real usage,” CryptoTeca observed, underlining Ethereum’s strengthening position as a transaction layer.
Staking dynamics have also changed. Lido’s dominance weakened while Figment expanded, creating what some described as a healthier staking environment for institutions seeking yield exposure.
Toward a Treasury-Grade Asset
Ethereum’s recent institutional push extended beyond short-term inflows. CryptoTeca argued that Ethereum was positioning as a “treasury-grade asset,” supported by regulatory momentum. Recent approvals included 401(k) retirement plan inclusion and “Project Crypto,” which opened new avenues for institutional adoption.
At the same time, the upcoming Pectra upgrade added technical appeal, while analysts floated long-term price projections of $6,000 to $15,000. While such targets remain speculative, the inflows and usage metrics pointed to Ethereum’s rising credibility among institutions.
Whale Activity Supports Conviction
On-chain whale movements reinforced the ETF narrative. Lookonchain reported that Bitmine bought another 28,650 ETH worth $130 million, lifting its holdings to 1.174 million ETH valued at $5.26 billion.

Large-scale accumulation by entities like Bitmine suggested alignment with institutional sentiment. Such activity helped absorb selling from retail accounts, which Santiment data showed had exited during the latest rally.
Bitcoin-Ethereum Dynamics Diverge
While Ethereum gained from ETF inflows, Bitcoin moved in a contrasting pattern. Henry (@LordOfAlts) described their rallies as “inverse,” with Bitcoin testing resistance while Ethereum retouched support.
He noted that positioning risk-to-reward (R/R) entries for both assets could favor investors ahead of a breakout. The divergence underscored shifting momentum as institutions explored deeper Ethereum allocations.
Ethereum ETFs reached a record $2.85 billion in weekly inflows, confirming institutional interest at scale. The market entered a critical phase with spot ETF volumes surpassing $40 billion, and whales like Bitmine adding hundreds of millions in ETH.
Ethereum could strengthen its claim as an institutional-grade asset if inflows persist alongside network growth. For now, the record inflows and rising adoption metrics placed Ethereum at the center of investor attention.
