BlackRock Sells $100M in Bitcoin as CEO Hails Crypto

BlackRock clients have sold about $100.7 million in Bitcoin, according to Coinglass data.

At the same time, CEO Larry Fink said on CNBC that crypto could change the financial system, calling it the start of a new era of digital assets and tokenization.

The move came as the crypto market continued to face ups and downs after hitting new highs earlier this month.

Larry Fink, who heads the $13 trillion investment company, spoke on CNBC about how he sees the future of finance.

He said more investors are showing interest in digital assets and that the company is preparing for this shift.

Fink explained that investors are starting to move from traditional financial products toward digital ones.

He said this marks the beginning of the tokenization of all assets. This suggests that most assets could one day exist in digital form.

BlackRock has been active in this space for some time. The firm has pushed to bring digital investments into mainstream markets and make them easier for investors to access.

Fink’s comments add to growing attention around how large institutions are viewing crypto as part of their long-term plans.

BlackRock Expands in UK as Regulators Ease Crypto Rules

On October 20, 2025, BlackRock listed its iShares Bitcoin ETP on the London Stock Exchange. This marks a key step for the company and for the UK’s financial market.

More importantly, the listing came 12 days after UK regulators lifted a four-year ban that had stopped retail investors from buying crypto products on regular stock exchanges.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) introduced the ban in January 2021 because of fears that crypto’s price swings could harm small investors.

David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the market is now more stable and easier for investors to understand.

According to him, since they restricted retail access to crypto ETNs, the market has evolved. Now, products have become more mainstream and better understood,

In addition to this, BlackRock’s new Bitcoin product trades under the ticker IB1T. It lets investors buy into Bitcoin through normal trading platforms, without having to open crypto wallets or use exchanges.

Interestingly, similar products from 21Shares, WisdomTree, and Bitwise are already listed in London.

This step means that UK investors now have direct access to Bitcoin through familiar financial channels for the first time since 2021.

It also shows how large asset managers like BlackRock are working with regulators to make digital assets more accessible and secure for everyday investors.

Bitcoin Price Faces Swings and Market Uncertainty

The price of Bitcoin has been unstable in recent days. It rose above $111,000 on October 20 but dropped below $108,000 the following day.

Notably, the fall came as traders reacted to growing trade tensions between the United States and China.

Currently, Bitcoin is about 14% below its record high of $126,080, reached on October 6.

In a recent post, well-known trader Peter Brandt said Bitcoin may have already peaked for now.

More so, he noted that the coin has gained more than eight times its earlier value in this cycle.

So far this year, Bitcoin has increased 15.6%. That is only slightly higher than the S&P 500, which is up 14.5%. In comparison, gold has surged by 67%, making it one of the strongest performers.

Nevertheless, BlackRock’s Bitcoin sale and Fink’s comments show the mixed mood in the market.

The company continues to see promise in digital assets, even as some investors take profits after a strong rally.

For now, the focus remains on how tokenization and regulation will shape the next phase of the crypto industry.
