The crypto market is in a decisive phase, with analysts marking the start of a possible altcoin season. Chart structures, long-term support lines, and sentiment indicators are now pointing to a potent altcoin rally in the lead-up to 2026. The Altcoin Season Index, which has been on the rise, adds weight to these forecasts by suggesting a shift in market dominance from Bitcoin to altcoins.
Altcoin Rally Could Bring 50x Gains by 2026
CryptoElites believed that the next altcoin season could be similar to the past explosive cycles, with gains of up to 50x. The analyst noted that both 2017 and 2021 began in similar accumulation phases before experiencing parabolic rallies. Based on his projection, the next big top could come in early 2026.

He emphasized that disbelief typically signals the beginning of a major uptrend. In 2023, a few people believed his call for a mini altcoin rally, which proved correct. Now, he predicts another massive current with market liquidity swinging from Bitcoin to altcoins.
According to the CryptoElites chart, the current base reflects past cycle lows. Each “bottom” area in history has been followed by a 50x expansion in the altcoin market, which supports his argument that the next cycle could already be underway.
Historical Cycles Suggest Huge Altcoin Season
Trader Tardigrade picked up near-perfect symmetry between the 2021-2026 and 2018-2021 market cycles. He pointed to a giant cup-and-handle structure forming on the Total altcoin market cap chart. When the neckline is broken, he is expecting a sharp continuation of the altcoin rally.

Tardigrade stated that accumulation is complete and that momentum is about to accelerate. The setup, he noted, is “almost identical” to that which caused the last explosive altcoin season.
He expects the total altcoin capitalization to exceed $3 trillion during this phase. Strong market participation and improved liquidity conditions are potential catalysts for this expansion.
Eight-Year Trendline Supports Altcoin Rally Outlook
Moustache stressed that the altcoin market cap as a whole has respected its eight-year ascending trendline. This structure, which has held since 2017, has undergone many corrections, contributing to bullish market confidence.

He said every retest of this trendline has been a bottom that has led to renewed rallies in altcoins. According to Moustache, the pattern shows that structural strength remains intact despite recent volatility.
He added that once prices decisively close above horizontal resistance, the next altcoin season could begin. A breakout indicates a renewed capital rotation away from Bitcoin and into altcoins, setting the stage for another prolonged altcoin rally.
Altcoin Season Index Points to Early Market Rotation
According to CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index, the reading is currently at 29, indicating the market is still in Bitcoin Season but slowly moving away. The value has risen from 26 yesterday, and there is a slow but steady return to confidence in altcoins.

The December 2024 yearly high of 87 was an indicator of altcoin dominance, while the April 2025 low of 12 marked the period of Bitcoin’s peak strength. Analysts view the recent uptick as a possible early indicator of capital rotation to altcoins.
Though the index is still below 50, the upward momentum is an improvement in market breadth. A continued rise in the Altcoin Season Index would confirm a transition phase in which altcoins start to outperform Bitcoin, potentially leading to the 2026 supercycle.
