Aave Protocol (AAVE) has continued to decline amidst a broader weak crypto market that has extended into the last quarter of the year. Typically, this quarter is bullish; however, the crypto markets are changing despite the overall bullish trend observed throughout the year.
Despite the struggles in AAVE crypto price, the DeFi protocol is seeing positives from the regulatory and network activity frontiers. Whales have had their hand, though it has come at a cost.
The token is expanding its reach with the latest compliance with the regulations of European Union countries. However, will this help the altcoin recover its losses that continue to plummet?
Whale Activity on AAVE Crypto
Recent on-chain data from OnChain Lens revealed that whales or potentially institutional investors were accumulating their AAVE holdings. For instance, an address purchased 8,936 AAVE tokens at a cost of about $2.23 million but was facing a loss of more than $570K when writing.
The activity was a signal that buying was back in action, which usually precedes uptrends. The whale was also facing losses in Pendle Finance (PENDLE) and Chainlink (LINK) trades. Still, the decline was a signal of a market-wide shift in sentiment, especially after the short altcoin rebound the previous day.

AAVE Crypto was also reaching record highs in both revenue and total deposits. The weekly revenue exceeded $3 million, while deposits surpassed $56 million. However, the altcoin was trading about 66% below its 2021 highs and 39% from its previous bull trend.
Fundamental Catalysts In AAVE Protocol
Aave Protocol was not only doing well on the metric front but also expanding its reach. The DeFi protocol got MiCAR’s approval to operate in Europe, which means more operations across the globe.
Specifically, the protocol’s stablecoin, GHO, will gain traction among European users who will enjoy zero-fee transactions. More users would mean amplifying every technical and on-chain activity on the platform on top of increased capital.
Since the operation remains decentralized and permissionless, regulatory actions may not have as much impact. This situation only increases the protocol’s popularity and does not significantly attract users away from existing ones.
While the effect is improving the crypto sentiment, the broader market trend on the numerical front remains a challenge.
AAVE Price Prediction: Will a Recovery Be Possible?
AAVE price was trading in a strong bearish trend, below very crucial levels. AAVE crypto remained below the resistance at the $240 zone and below three moving averages. These levels affirmed the technical struggle despite impressive on-chain and regulatory signals.
AAVE crypto was seemingly in a consolidation, with the price navigating inside a broadening wedge pattern. Analysts were eyeing a 200% to 300% run if the pattern holds as a bottoming signal. The price action looked to be in a free fall, with AAVE appearing in the top five losers among the top 100 cryptos by market cap as per CoinMarketCap data.
The whale activity and regulatory approval, which are bullish, contradict the declining price action. This explained why the whale/institution was facing losses in the AAVE crypto trade, among others. Technical alignments are key for fundamentals to push prices up.

Breaking above the resistance would flip the structure. However, great trades emanate from current levels with the resistance level at $240 as targets. Still, it was significant to be wary of the risk of continuing to drop since the historical repetitions were also changing in the global financial markets.
