Bitcoin Price Plunge Cuts Satoshi Nakamoto’s Wealth by $47 Billion

Arkham Intelligence recently reported that Satoshi Nakamoto, the mysterious creator of Bitcoin, has lost $47 billion in paper value in just weeks. His 1.1 million BTC, mined in 2009 and 2010, remain untouched. At Bitcoin’s peak in October 2025, the stash was worth $137 billion.

By late November, the value had fallen to approximately $90.7 billion. The coins have remained in place for 15 years. This silent fortune shows both the power and the risk of crypto wealth.

Bitcoin’s Rise and Sudden Fall

In October 2025, Bitcoin reached a record high of $125,000. At that price, Satoshi’s coins were worth $137 billion. For a short time, he was the richest person on Earth on paper.

The rally ended quickly. By November 21, the price of Bitcoin had dropped below $81,000. That was its lowest level in seven months. The fall erased $47 billion from Satoshi’s fortune in less than two months.

As of November 23, Bitcoin was trading at $86.41K. His net worth is now valued at approximately $92.8 billion. The loss is only on paper. None of the coins has ever been spent.

This sharp swing illustrates the volatility of crypto wealth. Fortunes rise and collapse in weeks. Satoshi’s case is the most dramatic example.

How Experts Trace the Coins

Blockchain analysts have studied the early Bitcoin blocks for years. They found a unique mining trail called the “Patoshi pattern.” This pattern appears in about 22,000 blocks mined in 2009 and 2010. Each block rewarded 50 BTC. The total is about 1.096 million coins.

Researchers, such as Sergio Demian Lerner, first spotted the pattern in 2013. It points to one dominant early miner. Most experts agree that the miner was Satoshi Nakamoto.

Arkham Intelligence, Chainalysis, and Glassnode all cluster these addresses as belonging to Satoshi. The coins sit across nearly 22,000 wallets. Not a single satoshi has moved in 15 years. Arkham’s dashboard confirms no outflows since 2010.

These coins represent about five percent of Bitcoin’s total supply. That makes Satoshi’s fortune unique. It is vast, yet frozen. It exists only as long as the private keys remain secret.

Billionaire Rankings and the Mystery

At Bitcoin’s peak, Satoshi’s fortune rivalled the world’s largest. Yahoo Finance and TradingView estimated he briefly topped the billionaire charts. After the crash, his holdings fell to $90.7 billion. That placed him around 20th, just behind Bill Gates at $104 billion.

Yet Forbes does not include Satoshi in its official Real‑Time Billionaires list. The magazine requires verifiable identity and documented assets. Crypto holdings alone do not qualify without proof of ownership. Satoshi vanished from the internet in 2011, leaving only pseudonymous keys.

Forbes has covered the “ghost wealth” in features. In November 2024, they estimated it at $106 billion. But their official tracker sticks to confirmed tycoons like Elon Musk, who leads with $400 billion.

The untouched coins remain a symbol of Bitcoin’s ideals. They show decentralization, anonymity, and trust in code rather than institutions. Every price swing reminds the world that one unseen figure holds sway over billions.

Whether the fortune will ever be spent is unknown. Some wonder if Satoshi lost the keys. Others believe he chose to disappear. The silence has lasted 15 years.
