YouTube Rolls Out PYUSD Stablecoin Payouts for U.S. Creators

YouTube has just launched a new payout option for U.S. creators. They can now receive their earnings in PayPal’s PYUSD stablecoin. This feature went live in December 2025. It builds on YouTube’s existing use of PayPal for creator payments.

PayPal added PYUSD payouts earlier in 2025, and YouTube adopted the option soon after. PYUSD is PayPal’s stablecoin, launched in August 2023.

It is pegged to the U.S. dollar and backed by dollar deposits, U.S. Treasuries, and cash equivalents. This update gives creators a new way to receive earnings.

How the New Payout Option Works

YouTube has just added PYUSD as a payout choice for U.S. creators. Only creators in the United States can use this new option. They must already receive their earnings through PayPal.

They can now select PYUSD in YouTube Studio’s payout settings. Earnings from ads, memberships, and Super Chats can go into PYUSD.

The process is simple. YouTube sends funds to PayPal in dollars. PayPal then converts them to PYUSD for the creator. Creators get near‑instant access inside PayPal’s network. They can hold the stablecoin. They can spend it. They can convert it back to dollars.

May Zabaneh is PayPal’s head of crypto. She confirmed the feature is live. “The beauty of what we’ve built is that YouTube doesn’t have to touch crypto,” she said. PayPal handles all the crypto parts. This removes complexity for YouTube.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the addition. Google owns YouTube. The spokesperson declined further comment.

About PYUSD and PayPal’s Integration

PYUSD is a stablecoin issued by PayPal. It launched in August 2023. The coin is pegged to the U.S. dollar. Dollar deposits, U.S. Treasuries, and cash equivalents back it. As of late 2025, PYUSD has a market cap of nearly $4 billion.

This is not Google’s first time with PYUSD. Google Cloud has accepted payments in the stablecoin from some customers. PayPal has integrated PYUSD into many products.

Users can hold it in PayPal wallets and Venmo. They can use it for merchant payments. They can use it for cross‑border transfers.

Stablecoins avoid bank delays and fees. They work well for international teams. Creators can use PYUSD in decentralized finance if they want. It stays stable, unlike volatile cryptocurrencies.

Why This New Feature Matters

YouTube has over 2.7 billion monthly users. It has paid creators more than $100 billion in recent years. Adding PYUSD could boost stablecoin use. It reaches millions of creators.

The move benefits creators. They get faster access to their earnings. They avoid some traditional banking delays. They get more flexibility in how they use their money.

This step illustrates Big Tech’s increasing interest in cryptocurrency. PayPal led with its own stablecoin. Now platforms like YouTube are joining quietly.

There are no plans for non‑U.S. creators yet. The feature stays limited due to regulations. Stablecoins are growing fast. PYUSD ranks among the top ones. Integrations like this make it more mainstream.

Creators now have more choices. They can stick with traditional payments. Or they can try stablecoins. This could change how online earnings work.
