Ripple’s native cryptocurrency XRP has been moving sideways, correcting another 3.16% to $1.86 amid a broader crypto market correction. But the hottest XRP news is that the ‘millionaire’ whale wallets, each with over 1 million, have returned to further accumulation. This sharp whale accumulation may also support the upside momentum in XRP prices.
XRP News: Millionaire Wallets Surge
Blockchain analytics firm Santiment reported that although XRP price has declined about 4% since the start of 2026, its on-chain metrics point to improving long-term signals. The number of “millionaire” wallets, with each holding over 1 million XRP, have seen a net addition of 42 wallets. Santiment noted that this return of large holders is a potentially encouraging sign for XRP’s longer-term outlook.

Other on-chain indicators also support the XRP price upside. According to CryptoQuant data, activity on the XRP Ledger has reached a new milestone. The 14-day average of decentralized exchange (DEX) transactions climbing to 1.014 million.
The analytics firm said the increase may be linked to Ripple’s continued push into institutional and sovereign partnerships over the past year. This effort aims at expanding real-world adoption of the XRP Ledger.
According to the chart, the move does not appear to be a brief spike. The rising moving average points to a sustained uptrend in trading activity rather than short-term volatility.

Speaking on the development, CryptoQuant analyst CryptoOnchain noted: “This breakout suggests that the XRPL ecosystem is maturing, with rising demand for token swaps and DeFi interactions as we move deeper into 2026. Historically, breaking such a long-standing resistance in on-chain activity often correlates with renewed market interest and potential positive price action for the native asset”.
XRP News: Daily Chain Transactions Shoot 2 Million
Data from Artemis shows that daily transactions on the XRP Ledger have climbed above 2 million. The highest peak point during this month was 2.5 million transactions.

The firm noted that similar spikes in on-chain activity occurred twice in 2025, first between January and March, and again between June and July. Both these periods resulted into sharp XRP price rallies including a rapid rally above $3 and a move to an all-time high near $3.6 in July.
Ripple Whales Accumulate $710 Million Worth of Coins
On-chain data also shows that whale entities have resumed accumulation, even as XRP price dropped under $2 support. At the start of January 2026, wallets holding between 1 million and 100 million XRP collectively controlled about 14.54 billion XRP.
Of that total, addresses with 1 million to 10 million XRP held 3.57 billion, while larger wallets holding 10 million to 100 million XRP accounted for 10.97 billion.
Santiment data shows that accumulation picked up again as XRP’s decline extended. Whale wallets have since added roughly 380 million XRP, lifting their combined holdings to about 14.92 billion tokens. At current prices near $1.87, the newly accumulated XRP is valued at approximately $710 million.
