Bitcoin News: Strategy Buys $370M BTC After 10-Week Pause

Strategy resumed Bitcoin purchases after ten consecutive reporting weeks without an acquisition, buying another 4,603 BTC.

The company spent $369.7 million on the coins between Aug. 24 and Aug. 30 at an average price of $80,318 per BTC, including fees and expenses.

The transaction lifted Strategy’s total holdings to 845,050 BTC.

It also came after the company spent much of the summer managing liquidity, selling some Bitcoin, repurchasing preferred shares, and building dollar reserves.

The latest Bitcoin news followed a capital raise through the sale of approximately 4.53 million MSTR shares. The company generated about $602.8 million from the share sales, providing funds for Bitcoin purchases and balance sheet management.

Strategy also reported $5.1 billion in dollar reserves and $1.61 billion in additional cash holdings. The combined dollar assets reached $6.71 billion, while the company reported zero net leverage.

Bitcoin Price Tests Key Resistance Levels

Bitcoin price traded near $78,600 after Strategy announced the purchase, with the asset attempting to recover toward the $80,000 level. Market participants are watching whether BTC can maintain support near the $76,000 to $77,000 range.

Meanwhile, BTC price faces resistance between $80,000 and $81,500, according to Bitcoin price predictions. A move above this zone could open the path toward higher levels, while a decline below support could expose BTC to $74,000.

The market also tracks upcoming economic data, including the September 4 jobs report. Investors are monitoring labor data for signals about future Federal Reserve policy decisions.

Bitcoin’s recent price movement follows a recovery from summer lows near the $58,000. The asset has since moved back toward the upper end of its recent trading range.

Also, MSTR stock is trading at $130, up 2.12% during the session, after Strategy resumed Bitcoin accumulation with a $370 million BTC purchase. The shares moved higher as investors tracked the company’s latest Bitcoin acquisition.

Saylor Signals Return to Bitcoin Buying

Michael Saylor had hinted at the latest purchase through an update on X after posting the message “We’re back” alongside a StrategyTracker yesterday. The post created speculation about whether the company would restart its Bitcoin buying activity.

The purchase confirmed that Strategy had returned to accumulation after several weeks without adding BTC to its holdings. The company continues to use capital market activities to support its Bitcoin treasury strategy.

Strategy’s Bitcoin holdings now represent one of the largest corporate cryptocurrency reserves globally. The company continues to build its treasury position while keeping additional cash available for operational needs.

The latest acquisition came with an average purchase price above Strategy’s long-term Bitcoin cost basis of about $75,385.

Strategy Balances BTC Holdings and Liquidity

Strategy also repurchased $152 million worth of its STRC preferred stock during the latest transactions. The company increased its USD cash pool by $29 million to $1.61 billion.

The company said the actions strengthened its preferred stock position while improving its financial flexibility. Strategy reported a BTC credit spread of 56 basis points for STRC, down from 59 basis points.

The latest Bitcoin purchase shows Strategy’s continued focus on digital asset accumulation while maintaining cash reserves. The company has used equity sales, preferred stock offerings, and other financial tools to support its Bitcoin strategy.
